Quoting from White Wolf Publishing's The Syndicate, a sourcebook for Mage : The Ascension (a game yes, but it makes a valid point...
Making money is all well and good, but it's ultimately a form of myopia. the secret is not found in how much money a person makes, but in what money represents. Wealth is a tangible symbol of man's progress. It's printed right on the face of a dollar : In God We Trust. That god is Man himself, in all his creative and resourceful glory. He trusts so implicitly in the fruits of his mind and hands that he invests pieces of paper and tiny metal disks with his self-worth.
It's a good point. Money is a symbol of the vanity inherent to the human species today.
Are there multiple Star Wars RPG's coming out, or am I missing something?
BioWare is going to be creating a Single/net-Multi Player RPG, I assume (No time to read the links), and Verant Interactive, makers of EverQuest, are making a MMORPG version, which I can't wait for.
Sounds like Lucas has a good revenue stream lined up for the next couple of years... (as if the already released SW games and movies, and t-shirts, etc etc etc didn't already bring him enough cash)
It seems as if even Comcast's Tech Support group needs to be clued
It is not the intent of this text to prohibit customers from establishing a connection for residential purposes. Activities such as online banking, online trading and making purchases online are not considered in violation of the Subscriber Agreement.
The Comcast Online residential service is not intended for those that attempt to host a VPN connection or for those persons attempting to establish a VPN connection with their workplace.
Online banking, online trading, and online purchasing are typically made via SSL connections, not VPNs. Sounds like they're trying to milk money from Joe Whitecollar who needs to connect to his VPN to access files at work.
A) Capitalism and communism are general catagories of ideologies. Many form sof both have never been tried. The failure of one or more forms of communism does not prove capitalism correct.
Communism is a facet of the Socialist ideology, not an ideology in and of itself.
To the comments that say that VA doesn't have to support you because you installed Mandrake, bollocks. They don't have to support the OS or the Software (any OEM really only has to support what they've installed, IMHO), but they do have to support the hardware that they have supplied you. Sending the system back with parts missing and the *same exact problem* was pretty sh*tty, I think.
One question though, did the server boot with Red Hat installed?
Actually, Jupiter does *kind of* have a surface. After you get so far down in the atmosphere, the pressure forces the gases into liquid form, IIRC. Then again, IANAA (I am not an astronomer).
And I'm from the south, Georgia, to be exact, and Papa John's just irritates me.:) Last time I ordered from them, there was a hair in my pizza (not mine, I ain't blonde), and the time before that I found a used band-aid (and it wasn't the same store, either).
As for pricing, Pizza Hut and Papa John's around here tend to be the same or similar prices (+-$2), but I'd still rather have pizza from the local pizza join than either one, but it's not open as late as PH/PJ's.)

I can do (just about) anything under Linux that I do under Windows. Two examples I can think of are 1) Viewing movie trailers (usually quicktime, though some DivX;-).avi's are floating out there, and 2) Playing Diablo2/EverQuest.
I used to be a macophile, and the only thing macophiles are *really* restricted from doing is gaming.

Qwest had to have been desperate to merge with US West, though. I agree with whoever posted "Now we can get told 'No xDSL for you!' up to 40 times faster." =P

Interesting, didn't see anything regarding the merger on the home page, could you post a direct link?:) (I'm lazy, and at work, and uswest is a competitor/partner):) Still, Qwest must have gotten desperate. There are better LEC's they could have dealt with/bought out (Covad comes to mind).

Well, coming from the broadband support industry, I have to say... This is bad, mmmm'kay? US West is by far the worst of the ILECs that I've ever dealt with. Even Bell Atlantic has better customer service and support than these folks, and that's saying *a lot*. US West tends to fsck everyone that deals with them over, especially end users and residential customers. I used to like Qwest, but they've sold out.

I'll change the admin login on everything to 'nimda', and make all the passwords 64 characters long!
In all seriousness, without real security measures, the real crackers are going to have an easier time of it than the script kiddies.
