  1. Heard This Argument Before on HD Video Could 'Choke the Internet'? · · Score: 1

This sounds similar to the arguments the phone company used when the Internet was just starting to taking off. That their networks were designed for quick calls, not the hour after hour of downloading pr0n that you guys all did every night... :) But after a while they got it figured out upgraded the correct parts of their network and the world once again failed to end.

  2. Cabling Installation and Maintenance on What Magazines Do You Read? · · Score: 1

I've been getting a free subscription for a couple of months now, and while there are a lot of ads mostly for interesting/expensive products, I find lots of good information about where the industry is going, what other big campuses are doing. If nothing else, I realize I'm not the only one fighting to upgrade a cable nightmare into a documented, organized system.

  3. Re:It's a marketing hype (Cable) on Cable TV Versus Satellite TV? · · Score: 2, Informative

I agree that the signal "problems" are marketing bull from cable companies. I've lived in places where there was snowing for 5 months out of the year. And raining the rest. Never had any problems. The dish doesn't even collect snow like old C-Band dishes did. Check who offers what channels and at what price. For me, the Sat wins every time!

Recently got a FastTrack SX4000, here's my expirence... Wouldn't boot properely on my not that old computer (FIC AZ11E w/Athlon 800). Their support staff bent over backwards to try and resolve the issue. Even sent out replacement card. I had to buy a new computer to get it working, but I have nothing but good things to say about their support.

Anyone remember (or know) what the weight of the D engine is?

Right around 45g for a D size. So you can go up to the E's before you start to push on the limit.

  6. Re:Royalties? on Latest Salvos in the Ongoing Battle Of Webcasting · · Score: 1

This whole big issue of payments for the copyright holder WILL come around to us "real radio stations" sooner or later. The way I understand it the DMCA applies to webcasters because their signal is "digital" so as soon as IBOC (In Band On Channel) digital radio starts becoming a reality we will have to start paying our toll to the bridge troll too. That's why I'm supprised that the NAB wasn't more opposed to the DMCA early on. But to their credit almost nobody knew anything about the DMCA until it was passed.

  7. Re:Map of the radio spectrum? on FCC Approves Digital Radio, Kills Satellite Merger · · Score: 1

How much "bandwidth" does this new digital radio take up?

This "new digital radio" is called In Band On Channel which means that it takes up NO additional bandwidth. It slides in on both sides of the current FM signal. Older analog sets will still pick up the regular signal, and the new digital sets will put the pieces back together and provide the "new digital"

Grocery Stores have nothing on me! For about a year my group of friends have been trading cards around randomly. Just the other day I got a card from a complete stranger in exchange for one of my friends. He promised to do the same thing. Their profiles will become more and more useless if they see "me" buying things in four different states, sometimes a woman other times a man.
