Except when the wind and solar powered solar and wind turbine factories start making solar and wind powered solar and wind turbine factories... and solar and wind technology improves - that is a realistic 3rd option
Yeah, why don't you visit the heavily Muslim districts of France sometime and see if you want that where _you_ live. Which districts? The ones where even the police are afraid to go.
After moving to the UAE, I learned that most of the people back home couldn't tell their Asians apart let alone their Islamic brothers. My biggest beef with racist people such as yourself is not so much that you are "racist" in the sense that you hate certain people who walk a certain path in life... but that you blindly stereotype people together that aren't the sort and can't see past your own bigotry.
Go ahead and express your hate to the people who cause trouble in your society, but make sure you're hating the right people or at least hating them for the reasons you are saying you hate them.
It sounds to me that your problem is not the muslims, but the people who densely occupy certain neighbourhoods and cause trouble. The fact they are brown, asian and possibly even muslim (but maybe sikhs or buddhists and you can't tell them apart) is probably not even the reason the crime is high. Correlation does not imply causation. It is probably all of them are crammed into some ghetto because they are having a hard time being sucessful and living a proper life because dickheads like yourself... which makes them not want to accept your culture.
Bigotry is when you want to retain your ethnicity but you don't want another group to have theirs. I want everyone to retain theirs. Muslims don't.
And this statement and the fact one can still legally obtain and consume alcohol and liquor in the UAE speaks volumes towards your understanding of bigotry.
It probably doesn't matter what you use if you do not plan on continually updating it or install every third party plugin... It's not like the WordPress comunity can't deliver a working blogging platform or patch the security flaws but it is the prevailing platform, open source, and nobody updates. Same problems the OS vendors have really.
Yeah my home is where my hat is. Today it's the UAE. Yeah flash desalination works here because the co-generation. The sad thing about being a simple peeon is that somebody else did the cost/benefit analysis of RO Boron problems and the few lives they are messing with may be your own or your childrens... but there are still the problem of the alternatives and money already invested in the purchased RO plants.
In terms of declining sources of energy with low EROEI... I don't know if all doom and gloom yet The first solar powered solar panel factory has already been created... and maybe we will stay ahead on the technology curve. Maybe not. I share your concern for our children, but what can you do besides educate?
That is seeming to be less true now then previously and I don't think its so much about it getting dirty. I think it was partly to do with the TCO of a Lamborghini comming down. You can now get tires for less then 5k and drive the car 7500 miles between services as opposed to 1500. The people who are smart with money know the real cost of the car is depreciation and operating costs... It's not as insane now to own an exotic car as it once was.
Maybe they could... but maybe they'd rather not waste their money now for no gain. If I were China, all such intelligence would be filed and I'd continue to rape the capitalist economy. Once the all the other superpowers have no industry/jobs/value, they can rest comfortably knowing they have everyone by the balls because nobody will have the resources to compete. If needed, the intel can come into play later... but just sitting on it increses the likelyhood that more relevant data comes in the future. Why copy the f-117 now when data on the f-22 will come in...
Okay, but I read RO only accounts for less than 15% of the worlds desalination and that Multi Stage Flash desalination is the dominating desalination technology. (poorly cited wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-stage_flash_distillation)
How is the boron problem with MSF vs. RO? (too lazy to research myself)
I'd imagine with an abundance of free energy can result in less efficient technologies being used (reverse electrolosis?!)
Some participants can and will make money in a pump and dump scam... success does not make it ethical... but ethics in the stock market where everyone is trying to make money simply because they have/have someone elses money? Seriously?!
Man that is probably the worst written/cited wikipedia article I have ever read... It's like someone got so sick of revising the Coca-Cola article they relized they could give all these anti-coke tinfoil hatters their own article to spew whatever on and just left them to it.
I agree and don't think the surface of the earth is heated substantially by its core, but the core is not heated substantially by its surface... how could a massive sudden change in orbit occur without sudden massive energy transfer?! A massive jupiter size object crosses through the suns orbit - that would still be a lot of energy and we should be able to see evidence of that. Not saying there isn't and this is bunk, but surely something that should be able to have lots of solid factual backing.
Production of the Ink, maintenance of the press, green house gasses from landfill, decomposition of the stuff they killed and didn't keep when they logged the trees...
The only thing that is intuitive is that there are sooo many varibles to make such a study that it can easily be made into propaganda and well over the fact checking ability of many of us (myself included)
And that is why the Canadian system of voting for your local representitive is supposed to work... You vote the people who you agree with, who may not share the same view as the rest of the party - and if they fold, there is a lynch mob them and don't vote them back next election. Well as Canadians there is no lynching anymore and the American media has distracted us to focus on the Leader (and some idiots even tried to change our vote) and now we are becomming US-junior.
The AM band is technically crap... as in intereference and lack of stereo. You know it. My point is without the CBC pushing the private sector to be more competitive, free radio will continue to get diluted because private radio is about profit. Even for the startups. The big point is that when these AM stations get attractive to listeners, they are purchased. Sure you can argue that it's ICAN and CRTC problem... but as a tax payer, that doesn't fix my radio. The fact that people are complaing is exactly why you should be happy with the CBC. And as for Cancon.. it may have resulted in us getting Nickleback, Billy Tallent and Bieber shoved down our throughts but it has made us one of the world leaders in English childrens programming and saved our industry. I can't see how the CBC being so competitive while fulfilling its mandate is a bad thing.
So, how does Larry pay back the borrowed money on a $1 salary without paying taxes? By selling the yatch to someone else to pay back the loan and selling some stock (paying capital gains) to pay the depreciation (if any)?! Larry should be the name for all hypothetical finacial questions from now on...
If history has taught us anything, August.
Feel free to post other references for late summer war predictions...

Depends where you are from... in the UAE, a Toyota Hiace is called a minibus but I'd imagine Americans would call it a small van... http://www.transad.ae/en/newsdata/9seater.aspx
That's the problem with units of measurement based on things which are not common everywhere, like pure water.
What about poppy seed bio-diesel. Would you like to see that tested too?

You're new here, arent you?

IOS = Formula 1 Droid = Demolition Derby
Microsoft Phone = a hobo standing by the Interstate with his thumb out
What about "WebOS" or "Palm" or "Meego" ???
They overdosed at the shelter.

because 90% of the BBC reporters dream to live and work in London?
