The worst thing about SSH vunerabilty exploits is you can sucessfully issue a batch of commands rooting the box... and even make ssh tunnels to remote resources like printers and DVRs and root them too... at least with an RDP exploit, its a PITA to script a large scale attack.

I know you are not correct in that many web developers who develop on Linux try and maintain the equipment on their own. What they previously did on Windows they can no longer do. Linux is mainstream now and you no longer need to have any intelligence to run a LAMP server... and many of them run linux because they feel it makes them seem more "elite" then the windows server users they once were. Sadly, they install the complete CD with compiler and all and don't do the updates because they can't resolve the dependancy hell of their distribution.

So you are trying to tell me a system where many admins cannot write firewall rules and file ACLs is better then a system with a GUI for the same?

Windows has all the same security functions linux does and then some and can be made to be highly secure. It also has a command line that is more useful then the majority of inexperienced know. Admins who don't know how to/or care to maintain some of their systems exist on both camps. It is not the tool.

What you are saying is the same as saying impact wrenches are bad tools for mechanics because they are easy to use and strip bolts and all mechanics should all use torque wrenches instead.

Do I think all is peachy in Syria, hell no... but the one thing I do know is that the media represents the interest.

If there wasn't US interest, there wouldn't be US news covering the story like many other parts of the world where such genocide was occuring and not reported because nobody gave a shit.

But that said... come to the region and you will find that there is more then just oil. There is a different way of thinking that is not all bad. And much of the western media and pop culture about the region leaves me scratching my head thinking WTF?

-Iran is currently occupying Abu Mousa, an Island claimed by UAE
-Sure, Iran is modern and beautiful, but to be honest, I have not seen the US Propaganda that portrays it as mud huts and rubble. Instead, I have seen possible propaganda about them detaining hikers and web developers. I couldn't care less if it's beautiful, I'd rather not risk going there to see how wonderful it is.

It seems all of the issues of the world are related to history and fear of X - trying to be over proactive. Why not let Iran do their own thing and be reactive? The problem is not if they have a bomb to drop, but if they drop a bomb.

  20. For one thing, anything which comes from FreeBSD always has to be re-engineered, and usually poorly. It hardly matters that the Capsicum researchers chose FreeBSD as their test bed for probably arbitrary reasons. What matters is that FreeBSD has now infected it.

God forbid they release and modify truly free code that can be taken and be further modified, then sold without risk of litigation from the original author* If anything, unless I missed the sarcasm, I think it was wise to not infect the project with GPL or taint it early by trying to make it compatible with everything maintained seperately rather then a single released package that is FreeBSD. The AMD boards I have purchased hit the trash can sooner and I even have some surviving P4s where the K7's are long dead. With over 3 third party competeing chipset manufacturers for AMD boards, they race to the bottom and the consumer is left with no choice but junk. AMD doesnt seem to care. Even the premium AMD products seem to try and compete on price first. Intel has always released quality premium products that form a complete solution, and when there is an issue, you only need point a finger at one company, who will then solve it.
