Quattro, their other "advantage", runs excellently in native mode under Linux, but it's not Corel's any longer, since their merger with Borland/Inprise fell through.
I don't follow. QuattroPro, nee Quattro, was born a Borland product long ago, but wasn't it sold to Novell and then to Corel as part of the WP Office? Quattro being in Corel's office suite didn't have to do with their failed engagement with Borprise.
When quattro was born, the competition was 1-2-3, hence the name. How times change.
This is the endgame for Corel. They are desperate to raise enough cash to keep going for a few more quarters.

emacs? TeX? something else?
Which AIX was x86 and which was (and is) RS6000?
I definitely remember a branch of AIX that was
for x86. The "Advanced Interactive eXecutive"
IIRC. Ugh.
And isn't IRIX a system V derivative? As somone
else noted, it is shown as appearing out of the blue.
Is the newer LILO included?
if you can point me to a place that has good and free TT fonts that we could include, do.
The attractive (IMHO) Knuthian Computer Modern fonts (of TeX fame/imfamy) are available as TT. cf. several links here.

Unfortunately, it resides in the bedroom so the noise from the computer and CRT drives me crazy.
I have the same problem wrt the fan on my beige box, but the CRT?
You must have better ears than me. Too much
walkman, perhaps.

Yes, but can you just run the SOffice spreadsheet the same way you would run, say, gnumeric on linux or excel on windows?
If so, I'll have to take another look at 5.2 - it looked monolithic to me.
...on any platform is that it is monolithic. Can't run the spreadsheet without loading the whole damn thing.
With this news, that may change soon.
Don't forget R.
I think Delphi Pro lists at about $500
Prices have come down. Delphi 5 professional costs $99- at the local campus bookstore (student ID req.). Pretty sure list is below $500-.
several hundred (or thousand? how much is Kylix anyway?) dollars
Kylix is still vaporware, but:
Delphi desktop costs $99- ($49 students)
Delphi professional costs ~$200 ($99 students)
More fancy versions for serious database work cost more.

I think this story is bunk, but if something
like this were to happen, don't count out SGI.
They are shopping themselves for sale, having
spun-off MIPS and Cray.
They make the hardware and software that Disney
and Pixar use.
And they made colorful boxen when Apple was still
making beige boxes.
But seriously, SGI is more in need of a takeover
than Apple.
