Groklaw already has been translating the PDF's into text as well as providing some good commentary.
From the looks of it, it appears that Novell is about to hit SCOX with a breach of contract suit. Additionally, the letters point out that the MS and SUN contracts should pay 95% of the amount to Novell.
With that in mind, it appears that SCO has lied on their latest earnings statement (fraud) as well as withheld information from Bay Star, etc...
Too bad they focused too much on Power and Transmeta while paying little time on UltraSparc IV and V and ignored Itanium. Needs a little more balance and it would have been a great read.
I miss games like that... The old DOS days were the heyday of good games... Day of the Tentacle, Willy Bemish (while linear was way cool) Sword of the Samurai (most favorite game of all time) the original Harpoon...
Where is the hell is the Gnome2 Ximian build? It seems to me that Miguel and company have decided to cast off the product that made them (Ximian Desktop) and have decided to concentrate on suckling the teet of Microsoft with MONO and Ximian Connector.
Thanks for sticking with us Ximian Desktop fans! (end sarcasm)
We began using Apache-Tomcat to replace SilverStream as our app server for awhile now. It works better, faster, and best of all... CHEAPER. At first, our developers were hesitant to switch but now they absolutely love it. Unfortunately, the Apache-Tomcat combo is the only thing stable that our dev guys do... one day they will write decent code.
Uhm... if you were to have gone thru the selection menu, you would have seen the option to install kernel sources... it was your shortsidedness that caused it and not the distro's...
... Robert Forwards innovative designs coming to reality. Now all we need to do is build his solar powered lasers to provide acceleration and decceleration and send one the sails to Europa or Titan. If you have no clue to how much of Robert Forward's ideas can change the world, read any of his books (considered HARD science-fact/fiction). All of his concepts are based in true physics and theory.
I understand RMS's philosophy and his desire to stick to his guns, but all the guy did was ask a simple little question. How hard is it to answer or not answer instead of spouting off? Geesh, for being so smart, RMS sure is dumb.
Thanks for the info.... it is just a irk that Sun would do this.... when their sales people initially told us about the USIII, the said it would be backwards compatable but their press release seems to say otherwise. I hope your info is right. Thanks again.
Before all of you Sun bashers get your panties in a bind, realize the high end Sun hardware has it's place and purpose. If you do not work or have not worked in the Enterprise sector, you have no clue about the hardware and why Xeon's, PIII's, and Athlons do not do the job. (Now if that wasn't an invitation to be flamed...) With that out of the way now...
The worst part about this is after spending millions of dollars on E10K's, E3K's, and Ultra 250's, they announce that the new chip is not backwards hardware compatible. How long do you think it will be until Sun decides to ship new proc boards for the E3K and above or are they going to milk out what they can eith the current hardware then foce a new platform on you to use the new chips. So, here someone sites with their brand new spanking E10K Starfire with 32 procs that they spent 1.5 mil on and they are going to wait for new proc boards before upgrading or worse yet, Sun releases an E10500 with the new USIII's. I hate nothing more than forced proprietary hardware migration. Well.... okay... I hate Microsoft more.
Don't let the hoopla fool you. The US Army currently uses Linux as the OS for their Warlord Notebook Intelligence Analysis System.
It is a light weight, cost effective counterpart developed by Mystech Software (later Sterling Software and now I have no clue) to compete against ILEX's All Source Analysis System - Remote Work Station (ASAS-RWS or just RWS for short). The RWS sits on Sun architecture and Solaris 7. The RWS code from ILEX really sucks too.
So, Mystech/Sterling developed the Warlord Notebook using Government Furnished Information (GFI) derived software and MySQL on top of Red Hat 4.2 initially before migrating to Red Hat 5.0 and then 6.0. It was cheaper (by far... as in free! The Army only had to pay for contract support and that was even optional) than the RWS system which was proprietary code from ILEX (which sucked), Oracle 7i (which rocked but at $2k per licence) on top of Solaris and were forced to accept support contracts. The system proved to work so well that some units dropped their RWS's completely for Warlord notebooks. There are a few other factors involved in that as well (such as a laptop notebook vs a Sparc pizza box and monitor... what a weight difference!) and it was generally liked by the users (unlike RWS).
But... money and politics play out and at last word, ILEX was gaining the upper hand again and Warlord Notebook was going to phased out. Not due to performance or cost, but due to the fact the Dept of the Army had spent SOOOO much money with ILEX that they didn't want to throw it away.
It's a crying shame.
I don't drink because I have to, I drink to stop the voices in my head!
Let's get down to the real crux of this story. It doesn't matter who backs what desktop.
The underlying greatness of this whole argument rises above just KDE vs Gnome. The greatness is in the fact that we have a CHOICE of what we want to see and how we want to see it. I like KDE and Gnome.... but I also use WindowMaker and AfterStep. It depends on what mood I am in and what I want to see that day. Not to mention some of the other desktop managers out there (IceWm, fvvm, etc...).
The whole beauty of it is that I am NOT locked into seeing the MS Winblows desktop everytime I start my computer. I have a choice. The choice will never be taken away from me. I wish the best of luck to both the KDE Project Team and the Gnome Foundation. I want to see them both succeed. I still want to have my CHOICE.
Of course, this is all IMHO.

While they may be purging your main articles written for them, further down the page they have link after link to MOG's articles on LinuxGram.
I would be more interested in seeing a public apology rather than just taking immediate damage control and going for the cheap (yet obvious) solution.
You are NOT funny!!!!!!!!!
Quit while you are behind...

SCO is in a lot of touble.

true true...

somewhere around 1996, it all went downhill
Quake clones, C&C clones, Everquest clones... there hasn't been an original game since Grim Fandango

Nice to see Slashdot verifying rumors before posting. If they were not hurting before, causing a panic will sure hurt them now.
This isn't "News for Geeks," this is blatant irresponsible journalism.
Nice job guys.
[H]ardOCP beat your pants off with this story... stop surfing porn with Maldo and you would have seen that...
Heard a lot of good things about it... maybe this is the one to jump in on

obvious troll... go over to windowshelp.org and post there

Argh! I wonder in mighty Bill of Bork managed to figure out how to crash Linux... It's the end of the world as we know it and I DON'T feel fine.
