There are a number of interesting Library projects using Linux. Beauregard Parish Public Library helped develop its own distro of linux called
Whitebox . There's also oss4lib which focuses on Open Source Projects in libraries.
When my wife and I became engaged I had very little money for a diamond. I did live along the border of Mexico however. I went to a rock shop and chose a very nice amethyst loose and had it mounted by a local craftsman in Mexico in a design I specified. My wife loved it because it was unique. Five years later she still loves it. The cost was less than the first payment on a similar sized diamond.
For whatever it's worth, State Congressional Officials and Senators do take e-mail a bit more seriously. I recently e-mailed my 4 local representatives in Louisiana and all 4 sent replies. I'm not saying they weren't scripts, but three of them took four days to answer which makes me think someone read them.
Just a thought, but what about patients who can't use keyboards, or areuncomfortable with such technologies. Would having full net access to your records really be helpful to an 83 year old grandma that only speaks Spanish.
