If you're out in the boonies like I am it's cheaper & more efficient to get 3 - 4 phone lines into an extra box, than getting the only other options, DirecPC (horrible pings) or the new 2 way Dish ($700 to start then $70/month 400k up 128K down). DSL & Cable won't be an option out here for another 5 - 10 years. The best thing is, my ISP is multi-link and they don't seem to realize it (or care). I know 5 people using the same dail-up account and I've seen/chatted with at least 3 of them at the same time. I don't think they ever check their logs either, this has been going on for years....

Show me a URl to a concrete study that says "X destroys neurons in your brain". Of course repeated _constant_ use is supposed to be bad for you, but not casual, every once in a while use....why don't you go to ecstacy.org and get some facts.....
....if you have a problem with the war on drugs, then don't bitch about it, do something about it. Show the politicos that you don't want their civil war & vote them out of office. Vote Libertarian. The LP wants to bring the Guv'ment back down to the size it is supposed to be, as stated by the Constitution. They want to decriminalize drugs. They want to reduce prison overcrowding by releasing non-violent convicts (read: drug-users), you know the one's the Gov. is keeping in the prisons while they let the rapists & robbers out on early parole.
If this shit would have happened to me when I was his age, my step-dad would have taken great pride in dislocating the headmasters shoulders....that would have made great headlines for the news roaches....
I see all these.class files in use in Mods and I think Java...and to answer your question Osty I wasn't really refering to other developers....Whell of Time and all of that (btw I thought Deus Ex was a RPG), I was talking about Mods done by Joe User...like the Unloaded Mod which turns unreal into a game something quite like the game Loaded for the PSX, then you have Unreal4Ever over at http://www.planetunreal.com/u4e/ that shows that you can do some truly amazing things with this games engine...sure it's a FPS, but that Mod is probably the most fun thing I have ever played! And it's not just "shooter" Mods that are being worked on...I've seen a Mod for UT that turns it into a skateboarding game it's called USkate or something like that (sorry no URL). My mistake about the Java thing though....
yeah but if you mulitply that by say 62 million people (on napster), then you are going to lose some revenue. hmm, 62 million * $40.00..is a good bit of cake...that is of course assuming that all nap users are on broadband...which they aren't....but anyhow....what's more important to the ISP, losing a customer (or possibly a lot of customers) or bowing down to the Ack-Acks?

yeah genius....they love to get rid of thier customers....the bandwidth is there to be consumed...and it's not going away...in fact every year more & more fiber gets put in the ground.....but all this fiber doesn't mean a damn thing if they don't have any customers to sell it to.

Wasn't there an article on/. a couple of months ago about some (book) publishers getting ready to take on the library system because it was causing the a "loss" of profits? I might have seen it at aclu.org but I'm not sure....
Am I at one of thier (paid) concerts or not....are we talking about a band that likes file sharing (Offspring, Limp Bizkit...etc...) or one that doesn't (Metallicrap)...sure I would....and I would let them know why...
Why would a group of ISP's blacklist CUSTOMER's whe the MPAA's law clearly states that they are not responsable for their users actions. Talking about slowly putting yourself out of business...aw come on, those 62 MILLION Napster users are going to have to go somewhere to get their fix....

That would be a great way for the gov. to punish M$...create an open source OS that is as good/better than WinXX.....they could tack onto the military & education budgets, because it would help both of those areas immediatley(sp?). Or they could just buy Be and Open it up.....wishful thinking I know....
