    Check the manpage for softwareupdate.

    I just used it to block those AirPort updates for the card I don't have (softwareupdate --ignore AirPort)

    I know this is unrealistic, but if you'd read the article you would have found out that this is an extension of PCI Express and PC manufacturers would like to extend this to Desktop PC's.

    Oh...for that you go to the "File Management" preferences and set "Text Beside Icons".

    You could also turn on "Compact Layout", but that's pretty ugly.

    What you're missing is that the poster doesn't want to run a bakery...they want to sell homemade bicycles out of their home. It's *not* a competing enterprise. It's *not* using secret recipes. No self-respecting employer should have a problem with that, unless the employee gets their priorities out of order.

    And it can ususally be found for under $300. Who needs Apple?

    It does...have you ever tried leaving them out?

    You can...recent versions of Gnome even give you a control panel to change it.

    I strongly recommend Dreamhost.com.

    They have all that you've specified and it's under $20 a month to boot.

    I've been with them for the past year, and I've been very impressed.

    They must have fixed it. I use Konq, Galeon, Mozilla, & IE on various machines.

    The Bank One website works on them all with no problems.

    I don't know what criteria you're looking for, but Dreamhost.com has been great for me.

    They're running Debian on all of their servers and their web administration panel is quite powerful.

    They've had a few problems lately, but I believe they're mostly growing pains and they've handled them *very* well.
