  1. this got me thinking... on Star Wars Ahead of Schedule · · Score: 1

    >Not just you. The only addition I didn't like in all three movies was the sarlack (sp?) pit.

I didn't mind that as much as the end of the Jabba scene in ANH when Boba Fett stops, turns and looks at the camera. The only reason for that was to satisfy the Boba fans, which is not movie making IMHO. They could have accomplished the same thing by just having him walk off the screen instead of stop. And it would have been much more tasteful.

  2. Lots of great TV on Sunday night on Star Wars Ahead of Schedule · · Score: 1

    >You forgot - a new X-Files, too.

And if you live in Minneapolis you get an extra hour of the X-Files (reruns), and then two episodes of Red Dwarf after that. Woohoo!

  3. I loved the simpsons but... on Matt Groening's "Futurama" featured in Salon · · Score: 1

I think Futurama will take the Simpsons feel to the next level. I expect we'll have to look more closely at what's going on in Futurama to get all the gags. For example, if you've seen the preview where the cop says "We have you partially surrounded", you'll notice that Bender shits a brick, literally. At first I had no idea what he was doing, I thought he was droping a weapon or something, but after seeing it a couple times I caught on. It's stuff like this that I find as pure genious, and it's a good way to get past the censors with various things. I expect there will be a lot of stuff like this (since Groening actually said so in a recent Wired interview), which I can't wait for.

I think this is a really good idea. With ego's being what they are, I think people will actually TRY to post intelligent comments just to be on the top 10. It works for other sites that have a daily letter section. So I imagine this can't be a bad thing.

  5. IE5 still overrides previous versions on Mozilla "beta" Release Coming · · Score: 3

What gets me is that installing IE5 means you can't have IE4 or IE3 on your system (Win32 that is). Being a web developer, this is REALLY annoying.

    > The movie theatres will be a mob scene!

The company I work for is actually thinking of buying out an entire theatre on opening night so we can avoid such a thing. Then our whole company would go to see it and we'd bring our clients and whatnot. At first I thought this was a great idea, but to be honest, I think half the fun of opening night is the millions of people you have to compete against to get tickets. Much satisfaction goes into that. Plus, who wants to sit and watch the movie with old people in business suits? I think I may take my chances going it alone.

    >>And that's just one single third part developer.

I'm definitly not in disagreement that there are great games for the PSX. I would disagree that there aren't any great games for the N64. For someone like myself who plays games quite a bit, it doesn't come down to what system is better, it comes down to what games are great, and I'm willing to buy those games regardless of what system they're on.

  9. Too small... on Cool Computer Cases Continue · · Score: 1

    >>Personally, I like the idea make a computer case out of Legos

While it is very cool, you wouldn't believe how many Lego's it takes to build a case, not to meantion how long it takes to put one together, especially if you're going for something cool.

However, once you finish it, it is VERY sweet indeed.

  10. One word: 64DD. on New Nintendo System · · Score: 1

That's funny, I haven't really read any confirmation from either Sony or Nintendo on who will be 3rd party publishers for either of their next generation systems. Of course we can "assume" that Sony will get Namco and Square, but you know what you do when you assume...

And I never considered Mario, Zelda or Metroid to be bad games. Looks like PS2 won't get ALL the good ones.
