Microsoft only has $34B in cash now. They've spent 25 billion over the past few years on buying back their own stock and giving a bunch back to investors in a one-time dividend.
From reading your previous posts, I notice that you're a GPL proponent. Don't you notice that you're being hypocritical? Without copyrights, the GPL would completely dissolve and anyone could take GPL code and put it into proprietary applications. If this what's 'right' in your mind, you should be a BSD proponent instead.
"Star Trek Enterprise will be the first Star Trek show since the original series not to run a full seven seasons."
Couldn't this be rephrased in a completely positive way to say: "Star Trek Enterprise is yet another Star Trek show since the original series to run a full six seasons."
It can't be stopped through legislation, legeal threats, copy protection schemes, the DMCA, or anything else. The only thing that can stop it is for them to find a way to make it more convenient for people to get the music they want at a cost so marginal that paying for the added convenience is worthwhile.
This is a contradiction. All these legal maneuvers, threats, and DRM are making it more difficult to pirate music. Therefore while iTunes and Walmart Music Store are remaining largely the same in usability, they are becoming more convenient compared to their pirate counterparts. The difference in convenience factors is allowing the music industry to make more profit online.
It's not about stopping piracy. It's about making it look and feel less attractive so that the legal online music distributors grow.
It's really not that flat in Minneapolis / St. Paul. The Mississippi river flows through there which and seems to have caused the noticable changes in elevation. There are thousands of lakes, which logically need some hills around them in order to hold their water. All in all there's probably only 100 ft. of elevation change throughout the area, but it's not like Fargo or other cities further west in the plains.
So, does Microsoft Research plan on combating Spam with a Bob-like approach, or the more refined Clippy approach?
Or are they going to come up with an entirely new file system to combat it, hype it up for every Windows release, but then delay its release a few more years?
Oops, pardon me while I reminisce about all the great advances Microsoft Research has given me:).
Ya I was wondering how it would be moderated, too. It could even be moderated informative. But I think it'll probably just languish at +1 + karma. I think it could have been +5 Funny if I phrased it better, though, or if it was a FP.
Does anyone know if the Goatse man has control of his bowels? I've been wondering for a couple years. Apparently he posts to alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.male.anal, so maybe he's commented about it in the past.

Great Idea! You bring the processor and I'll bring some bread.
Can someone else bring some jam or marmalade too?
In physics, do we say that force is about equal to mass times acceleration?
Perhaps you should.
OH, pardon me. I'm slow today.
I didn't know what your TLA stood for.
So it's actually the 2nd show to not run 7 seasons??
Your parents used to pay for hookers to come to your house?
No wonder you chose to live in their basement!

Why the negative slant?
Parenthetically, I like the UK's system in which the plaintiff has to pay the defendant's legal bills if the suit loses. We should do that.
I agree. That way, assholes like you that keep things that don't belong do you don't cause their victims to additionally pay legal fees.

Clippy "It looks like your return address is incorrect. Would you like me to fix it?
Shouldn't that be:
Clippy "It looks like your return address is correct. Would you like me to mangle it?
:)
How was the train eventually stopped?

Silly rabbit, the M stands for Microsoft.
Thanks... I found the interview!
It turns out that he has total bowel control.

I can't believe Linux isn't on there!!
It's an adaptation in response to commercial software companies, and it was(is) evolutionary!!

I was surprised that spelling wasn't listed...
And what is "checking for proofreading" anyway?? Does this mean Encarta editors are merely going to ask you if you proofread your submission?
Somehow I'd feel a lot more comfortable if the Department of Interior did this test than the DoD :).
apparently I don't :)
How are the patents "new"?? Patent #5,872,588 was filed in February 16, 1999 ... that's over 6 years old!
:).
IBM must have hired a really good cleaning crew to make TiVo think it was shiny and new
