Why not take it for what it is... an attempt to console you... rather than using the "punch in the face" response.
Why not let everyone get as much inspiration as they can from Joel's life. If you are hurt by people manufacturing inspiration, you have a much bigger problem.
If the users aren't patching their software then what we need is better automated patching systems. Maybe that should be a fundamental part of any server OS.
I don't think its worth the 16meg+ download. Read The Onion or something else that doesn't suck.
