  1. This all sounds great... on De Icaza Responds on Mono and GNOME · · Score: 0

...but if Miguel is really interested in fast development of Linux apps, looking to Apple would seem a better bet than Microsoft. Put resources in to OpenStep...any one who has used Apple's Cocoa framework (OSX) has seen just how powerful this is, and how fast apps can be created (that look fantastic and have incredible functionality for little code) in Java or Objective-C.

Yet another language isn't going to help Linux here.

  2. Didn't Spielberg work with Lucas on these? on 'Indiana Jones 4' Finally A Go · · Score: 0, Flamebait

And if so, get ready for Jar Jar Binks.

Lucas today is a hack, and he'll probably bugger this up like he did The Phantom Menace.

  3. Re:Digital Lifestyle My Ass on Time Canada Shows New iMac · · Score: 1

    I did just this.

Saved, because Apple stuff DOES cost more. But it was worth every cent. I have used Windows, OS/2 and Linux (mainly Linux for the last few years), and none of these are as good as Mac OS X, and none of the hardware felt or looked as good as my Dual G4. Everything really does just work, everything really is fast, and I can use the Terminal when I want, and run hundreds of applications. Best move I ever made.

  4. Relevance on Interesting Commercials · · Score: 1

Ok, A few points about this: 1) What does the super bowl have to do with "News for Nerds" 2) What relevance does this have outside the US? If I was to have suggested a topic on TV ads during the Aussie Rules grand final, do you think it would get posted on slashdot? I know it wouldn't. Do you guys realise there is a world outside the US? These days Slashdot has degenerated to an American-centric Mac-bash site - it has almost no relevance in the modern world. Very sad, as it used to be my favourite news site.

  5. A well known expression on Star Wars Episode 2 Starts Shooting · · Score: 1

There is a well known expression: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Something to consider when discussing George Lucas and the next episode.
