  1. Pong circa early '70s on What Was Your First Gaming Experience? · · Score: 1

I was 6 or 7 years old and the Thrifty had a Pong game, it was a nickle per play. I was an instant gamer, given that an ice cream was 15 cents it was hard to justify my gaming habit even back then.

  2. Strategic vs Tactical understanding on Identifying (and Fixing) Failing IT Projects · · Score: 1

I have been designing and managing IT project for 12 years. The keys to successful deployment are simple:

    1. Understand the business need.
    2. Understand the limits & capabilities of your team and software/hardware.
    3. Identify a real budget.
    4. Get full scope documentation and don't let it change. (all add on requirements are Phase II+)
    5. Make sure the person leading the project is not also doing end user support.
    6. Hire my company to actually do the work.
    7. Profit!

Given that it is almost impossible to get process documentation out of the internal client most IT projects fail before they even start.

I am happy to say we hit over 98% successful completion on IT projects. Strategic comes before tactical, but you must have both.

  3. Who needs to have the right name on Identity Thief Apprehended By Victim · · Score: 1

Last year when we got our new credit cards mine had my first name but my wifes last name (she did not change her last name when we got married). I did not notice it until I was down in LA on a business trip. Checking into my hotel they took my drivers licence and credit card and checked me in. The entire week I was in LA nobody said a single thing about my credit card and drivers licence not matching.

So I guess all you really need to do is match the first name... /boggle

Have you been to Las Vegas lately? http://www.startrekexp.com/ A bar, memoriabelia and a roller coaster all with Star Trek theme. It's a very very geeky place to play. Now, it may be that they need a casino to make it viable, but at least it exsists.

There are player made modules that are full on riddle fests cut/paste link. http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/categories/Pu zzles2.shtml. One of these requires you to "shout" the correct answer to the riddle... not just pick one off a list. This is an amazingly dynamic system and they are letting the geek player base make it better.

Last time I looked they had 535 player made modules for download off the bioware site. Many of those are remakes of the old modules.

Well, if they paid ME to get my information then it would not be so bad. Figure that if they are going to get 5-10 bucks per person/request, let em send me $1 per transaction that involves my information. Afterall, there should be some incentive to allow the govt to disseminate our personal data.

And what if your wallet IS the computer? No credit or ATM cards, just the wallet itself... Get rid of most paper transactions while we are at it... I like the idea of a wallet that does more than just holding useful things.
