You're forgetting a couple of options.

First, pulsed fusion engines. They're tremendously efficient in fuel to weight ratio and they don't blow up! We're probably at least 50 years away from this though.

Second, warp engines. We unfortunately have no idea how to make these engines.

Actually some DO want them launched from Earth. And back in the '60s when they were being tested by the US, they were testing them above ground! They managed twice the specific impulse (power per pound of fuel) as hydrogen. That means you can put more weight into orbit than you have in fuel!!! People like Zubrin have proposed using fission rockets regularly for manned Mars and Luna missions. It's not as dangerous as you may think.

The stock price is being manipulated down for 2 main reasons. First is that they are bringing Intel stock down to about 35 (next week) and they needed to bring down the other silicon stocks so as to not scare investors too early and cause a market panic. (INTC has too many shares to let it fall like a brick.) The second is that they want AMD cheap so that they can buy the stock cheap and run up the price. I think it's likely that AMD will go up by 50 to 100 percent in the next couple weeks or so. It'll probably start when earnings come out on the 11th. That'll make the already low PE of 7 even lower until it goes up.

Why do some people assume that sexual attraction of children = desire to rape them? I have *no* desire to rape or molest a child!!! I enjoy making young girls happy, not hurting them. Most children who are molested are molested by rapists who are opportunists, not people with a preference towards children.

You don't need to refuel once you launch. It's more feasible currently to launch from Earth and go straight there. In the future it would be nice to build and launch from Luna, but you wouldn't want to go from Earth to Luna to refuel since it takes a dV of about 6 km/s to get to the moon and only a dV of 4 km/s to go to Mars directly! Mars is easier to launch to than the moon. We could have had a 500 day Mars mission for the cost of the scientifically marginal ISS.

Should the police hide cameras in some people's bedrooms to catch offenders?

Why is it that whenever someone defends a right, child porn is the excuse to take it away? Should we ban digital cameras since those make it easy to produce CP? Should we take other rights away "for the children"?

Besides, the 1st Amendment was written in absolute language. It didn't say free speech except... It says FREE SPEECH. While I'm against forcing a child to pose for it as anyone, I fail to see the "crime" in having a scan of a old Dutch magazine.
