From Jeremy Allison interview:
Remember, for all you gits who for some reason think I'm an Australian (pah!) I'm a Brit - and my home town is Sheffield (in the Independent Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire). That's right - "THE FULL MONTY"! I've never even *been* to Australia, and have *never* eaten koala or emu
Have you tried to use MandrakeUpdate ?? This does everything the Debian system does and more... Plus you can install/browse RPMS over the web.
1.The update system that can upgrade every package on the system with just two commands (apt-get update; apt-get upgrade). For busy people
You take 5 disk to install over the net, Mandrake uses just one....
The ease of installation. I like how, if you've got an Ethernet connection to the Net, you can use
just 5 floppies (boot, root, 3 drivers) to get the installation started, and download the rest over
the Net.
The stability of the system is excellant. My last box stayed up for 120 days, and only had to be shutdown for an office move. It was doing http, ftp, sshd, X, MySQL, PHP, telnet, nfs and nearly everything else.
The general stability of the system.

The fan does only come on when needed, but when it does it is very loud. If i am watching TV it really gets annoying.
In the above comment about the muffler device, I was meaning for the hard disk, not the fan.
I use a muffler type device for my desktop. Get them from quietpc.com. Works great
Have a look at:
