They're figgin' anchor tags. You're telling me that Opera 6.11, the browser that touts itsself as the most standards compliant browser out there, does not support simple anchor tags? I'm having a really hard time believing that.

You can't get 3 people to agree on where to eat. How does anyone expect to reach a worldwide agreement on how to redesign something that's become such a huge part of our lives.

The only way we ended up with something as good as we have was due to the fact that it was created by a small group of very intelligent men with much foresight.

With that in mind I suggest we form a task force to look into this matter. That way we can sleep soundly at night knowing nothing will ever actually happen.

  4. But there must be limits on Red Hat 8.0 Released · · Score: 1

Don't get me wrong I use KDE all day everyday, and Mozilla is my browser of choice (actually Phoenix is right now), and I do belive in a distributions right to package things as they see fit.

BUT to make Mozilla the default browser over Konqueror is quite a slap in the face the KDE developers.

Most of the other changes RedHat made to the KD interface I can sort of overlook, it's mostly icons and themes and whatnot. But some things should be off limits out of respect for the people doing all the work.

    Just my 2 cents.

Now there I disagree with you. The GPL is an additional rights grant, over on top of the rights that copyright allows. Commercial licences are typically additional restrictions placed on the recipient, and I do not believe that those restricitons are justifiable or legally binding.

Au contraire. The GPL does not grant additional rights. It does provide for cerain uses, and strives to insure a certain future for the code released under it, as long as certain restrictions are met.

That's not exactly a "rights grant". Now if you were talking about the BSD license I would be more inclined to agree with you.

If that's how the Burmese coders work on this imagined kernel then there would be no problem.

The problem is that these people are creating a work which is derived from a GPL'd work. They are then obfuscatig the code prior to release.

They are not working with the obfuscated code, so the obfuscated version would not be the preferred form of the work for making modifications.

    No, not really.

They demonstrated that they can stop large segments of users (such as users using a given client) from using the network.

What they have not shown is that they have control over what files are being transfered over the network. That's the thing that got Napster.

It does indeed slow the rotation, but it does not diminish the rotational momentum. Once an anti-greenhouse phenomenon(sp?) comes along and reverses the course the mass will be condensed back toward the center and rotational velocity will increase.

Of course the pendulum may swing back farther toward the cooling side and then days would be shorter than they are right now.

But if nothings reverses the course of global warming (and if there actually is "global warming") human life will all die off and there will be noone to measure these inane things anymore. Will the universe be any worse off?
