    More seriously, I've found from past exeperience you should always take whatever time you think the project will take and multiply that number by 2 or 3. If you are lucky (and the customer requirements don't change to much) you should make it.

    I work as a programmer, and my typing (speed, technique) is atrocious. But whenever somone points that out, I always say "I've never worked on a project that could have met it's deadline better if I typed faster."

    Why not? Ritual didn't make the first Elite force (Raven did), so why wouldn't Activision give the license to a different devoper to make the third game?

    Nope. QuakeC was a C-like language developed for Quake 1. Quake 3 use ansi C compiled into bytecode to be run on a VM, or compiled into a native shared library.

    UT was clearly the best game out there, even better than Quake III that came out almost a year later than it.
    Quake3 and UT were released within a month of each other. Quake3 definately did not came out 'a year later'.

    Try the Ruby homepage here for downloads of the interperter.

    Another good resource is for information about the language is Ruby Central, which includes the online version of the book, 'Programming Ruby - The Pragmatic Programmer's Guide' which is very use for those learing the language and as a general language reference.

    Have you looked into the FOX Toolkit? It's written in C++, is available on many UNIX and Windows platforms and has many bindings to other languages (Ruby, Python, Eiffel). You can find it here.

    No it wasn't. According to Ken Silverman's homepage (http://www.advsys.net/ken/default.htm), Ken's Labyrinth was 'The first Wolf3D clone'.

    For those of you who don't know, after releasing the successful (and brilliant) Thief: The Dark Project and Thief II, Looking Glass Studios was denied funding by the publisher so that Ion Storm could continue working on Daikatana.
    Not true. Looking Glass closed due to their own financial mismanagement (they were in debt before they ever approached Eidios for funding). Check out this page under the section 1.2: The Demise of Looking Glass Studios for the complete story of Looking Glass' closure.

    In my country (Australia) the government (both federal and state) has sold of large proportions of public assets (for example the telecommunications and public transport systems) when they decide a profit can be made. What will stop the government selling of the collected DNA database of the county's citizens to a large privately held corporation when they can see a profit can be made?
