Almost all of them are after our rights, that's how they get and keep power. They just do it in different ways.

Well said and quite true. Entropy is absolutely the nature of government, Franklin said as much as he stepped out of the constitutional convention with the ink still wet...

I knew about the denatured alcohol, but not the additives to opiates.
It might be worth adding that making industrial alcohols poisonous is mostly for taxation.
For instance you can (with a supposedly easily obtained permit) make alcohol for fuel, but it must be made in-consumable, however if you use that to drive on public roads you still need to pay a tax on it.
Same old story... The "do gooders" insist on the rules and the bureaucrats, criminals and middle men capitalize on it.

Well said. If you ask me the biggest problem with deploying Linux in the work place is the "No one ever got fired for buying M$" line. Now that Linux is becoming more venerable, that thinking will and has become less popular. In fact these days, the mention of using Open Source in your IT infrastructure is sort of catch phrase. I was always certain Linux would do well in the server market, it just makes so much sense, as for the desktops... I think corporations really don't want their users doing anything more (gaming etc) than they can do with Linux for free, so once the emotional attachment to the windows GUI is recognized more, I suspect we will see a lot more linux desktops too, especially in the corporate world.

So, we just throw our hands up and cross over completely? Are you willing to have an RFID chip implanted as well? I don't believe the government or anyone in particular is out to get me, but I hate the idea, privacy is good thing we are giving it away by the fist full lately. They may as well just scrap the social security cards anyway, it is a system that will inevitably fail, I don't plan on getting any benefits. Lets move in the right direction instead of shoveling away our individuality and freedom.

    NO, Is right.
Most of our safety and well being as citizens can be satisfied by a relatively small set of laws, after that the advances in safety, prosperity and happiness are minimal. Life isn't safe and it doesn't fit neatly into a database either. Risk and a certain degree of randomness are facts like death that must just be accepted and dealt with. When we don't deal with it we loose things that we can have like freedom.

It's not like the patch is really the problem. We are not, nor do we aspire to be FrontPage developers. We like to use MS for support for such matters. When a clients web from or webot or whatever isn't working and the standard fixes don't work, it helps to contact MS and speak with a FP developer. If you aren't running supported extensions you don't have that.

I'm still waiting to hear from Microsoft regarding that fix. We like to use officially supported software, so we don't have to be "FrontPage gurus" in order to allow some of our clients to use FrontPage. Why should we change the very best thing going because of some fanatical backwards terrorists that would like nothing better than for us to all give up our freedom for fear of them.
