1)Some people that are the worst offenders of getting pissed off at tech support are the people that have no business owning a computer. There are lots of people that buy a computer not knowing what they even need one for.
2)If there were someway to convince PC owners to dig deeper into solving problems before calling their manufacturer for help then there would be better support (not as many people clogging the lines.)
I've never really liked Corel's Linux OS. It made me feel like I never moved out from in front of a Win 98 machine. However, their software for linux looks fine. I am happy to see that some companies are taking their office sofware and offering it to non-M$ customers.

It happens to be K-SLUG
(Kansas State Linux Users Group)
I happen to be on the KULUA listserve as well. Kulua's members are mostly Lawrence/KC people but there are a few of us Manhattanites on the KULUA listserve.

Maybe I should have stated my subject differently.
No PC == a quiet PC.
When you start removing hardware from a PC and run X over a network to your new terminal (old PC) you don't have to deal with the noise.
Just run a terminal with X over the network. No hard drive necessary. You can have a smaller (less noisy) power supply also.
Just a thought...

Now they will be jumping up and down in line in front of you while you are waiting to get your #1 meal at McDonalds.
So are we now all supposed to code using Micro$oft Word? :)
Make me laugh.
Don't blame me 14M3R. You are the one that trolls here.
Dude if I could I would mod you up. You get a 3, Insightful from me.
-Jeff
Use the TROLL distribution.
Lesson #1: Never ask which Linux is best.
Lesson #2: refer to Lesson #1.
So that small handy text editor called VI is "frosting" I'd like to see you use Linux about it.

That was the cheat code to get 30 lives in the Nintendo game "Contra" right? Oh the days of the simple Nintendo.
-Jeff
I might also add that I haven't spoken any German in my life so if Farfagnugen is spelled wrong, sorry in advance.
-Jeff
C'mon don't you remember the commercials from the old days?
-Jeff
Ok I must pardon myself. I thought you were talking about using a l4m3 win98 machine earlier.
Can we kiss and make up now?
-Jeff
Since M$ deems OSS "a cancer" they won't make software for Linux.
Have fun sitting in your cubicle using your Vaporware (tm).

Here's the equation
P=(1/2)*f*C*V^2
Lower capacitance == lower power
Lower frequency == lower power (we don't want that though)
Lower voltage on the transistor == much lower power.
Why did we go from 5V CMOS technology to 3.3V? Why did we go from 3.3V to 1.6V technology?
I think we should not disregard the voltage that we can run these circuits.
-Jeff
I think you're right. My example was just because I work with solar arrays. Notice my homepage on my profile.
-Jeff
Ummmmm.... NO!
Gallium Arsenide is used to make high efficiency solar cells.
-Jeff
The whole idea is to have the *smallest* transistor. The smaller the channel the less power it consumes.
-Jeff
You may get a chuckle out of this...
:)
We have a special name for some of Compaq's products at my shop. Instead of the "Presario", we call it "Pretty-Sorry-O."
-Jeff
Sorry. I was having a really retarded day. I'm really tired. I think I'll go home now.
You're webserver are belong to us.

At least you don't have to live in Kansas so you can be the buttend of every evolution joke. But hey we have liquor! :)
