I recently upgraded my Nokia 8290 to a Sony Ericsson T610. The SE interface took some getting used to, but I love the additional features. I can sync, access the web, and control applications with my powerbook and bluetooth, it has a built in IMAP compatable e-mail client, WAP browser, and supports J2ME applications.

The size is amazingly close to the 8290 (which is already a little bit smaller than the 8260, from what I remember), and the battery life is about the same, even with the addition of a color screen, bluetooth constantly on.

In fact, I ended up having to go out and buy a new ($50) soundcard. People should consider things like that when figuring out the "hidden costs" in using Windows.

Well Microsoft is an ISP (MSN). Does that mean they can't use pop up ads in their software products? Because like someone said earlier, Windows has ads when you install it.

And what about AOL? They've been doing pop up ads (outside of a browser) with their software far longer than NetZero has.

There are many programs that pop up ads "outside the browser."

For example, AceFTP pops up an ad when you quit it. This is outside any browser. Hotline Client has an ad running at all times. How are these different from the ads provided by NetZero's software?

If you're really that concerned about your privacy on slashdot, why don't you get a free e-mail account and register a slash id to that? That's anonymous. I don't know if they're rolling out service in many other areas, but I am pleased with the quality, and it certainly is giving Qwest some competition.

In reality, many pirate stations are considerate of the airwaves when they broadcast. The last pirate station here in Minneapolis was careful and made sure their transmitter only broadcast on the particular station they wanted. They were using commercial grade equipment, and were probably more careful about obeying FCC regulations by choice than some stations are by requirement.
