    I don't know - if the new ones are broken maybe you're better off with a refurb - presumably they tested it after refurbishing it. :-)

    So like if you bought a new car, and within 15 minutes you noticed a problem, went back to the dealership and they gave you a used car, that would be OK with you?

    If you take your broken car back don't they fix it and give it back to you? I.E. don't they give you a used car? Maybe it was you that used it but it's still used.

    I can see the problem if we're talking about underpants, but...

  5. Well of course not.

    The "bomb the cities" plans were all made when the US didn't have enough bombs and the CEP was shit.

    When the delivery systems got better and there were more warheads available the SIOP was:

    1. Soviet nuclear missile sites, bomber airfields, and submarine tenders.
    2. Other military sites away from cities, such as air defenses.
    3. Military sites near cities.
    4. Command-and-control centers.
    5. Full-scale "spasm" attack.

    I.E. "nuke 'em till they glow" was the last resort.

    But that was irrelevant - the question was whether the US could "kill every living [person] in Russia". I contend that physically the US could get a damn sight closer to that (insane) target than trying the same thing on China, despite Russia's huge geographical extent.

    Stuxnet wasn't espionage, it was an attempt to destroy things.

    It also was not targeted at China. Stuxnet is not a reason for China to attack us.

    I see Solo blasting Greedo I begin to thing I might need to shoot Solo first some day.

    I would argue that stealing classified information and destruction of hardware are pretty similar in the eyes of the government. They are both attacks.

    So you would nuke someone for spying on you?

    Ok, that's reasonable, thanks.

    Never worked to well for me 'cos I could never remember which if those icons/buttons on the status bar matched which terminal. I find looking at the thumbnails easier.

    Stuxnet, discovered in 2010, was hardly the first salvo to be fired.

    Sorry if I was appearing to nag, it's just that I've seen this "Gnome3 doesn't let you have multiple windows/apps open" thing quite a few times and I don't understand where it comes from.

    When Mac and Windows users complain that Linux doesn't work, I really don't know what they mean; my experience of late has been that I have fewer annoyances and more things just work, with little-to-no need for configuration when using Linux. (Computers in my household running a mixture of Win 7, 8 and Debian at the moment.)

    As far as I can see when people complain that Linux doesn't work they're usualy talking about Ubuntu.

    I'm not going back. I'm exactly as you describe - my desktop runs OS X and my mobile devices run iOS, but my servers run Debian.

    My desktop runs Debian, my laptop runs Debian. my servers run Debian, my SheevaPlug runs Debian, my phone runs Debian. My tablet runs Android - it's a piece of shit - but I'm working on it.

    Personally, I have situations where I want more than one app visible at a time. I want to control what is covered by what. I want to put the app where I want it.

    So use Gnome3 then.

    Why do people confuse Unity with Gnome3? They're not the same.
