Actually I think this is and excellent Idea and more schools should adopt this. At lease I will be able to tell how my daughter is doing in school, and weather or not she is skipping classes. Oh course any concerned parent should already know this, but we are all YOUNG once and we all know ways around the system.
Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldnt that slow windows down even more. You computer will now have to search through your registry to find the correct DLL for your application. And what happens if you registry gets corrupted (not like that ever happens), then that you put you in an even worse position. Would it be easier to make the DLLs backwards compatible?
Actually I dont think the problem is that people cant find a tech job, its just that when you are used to making 80+ thousand a year, you will find it impossible to live on 40 thousand. The last time I checked there were like 50 states, so why are the tech people rushing to California where the cost of living is sky high? I mean there are other places to work like North Dakota or Iowa. They might not be as exciting as California or New York, but then again when you are broke and umemployeed there are certain changes you have to be willing to make to your life style in order to survive, even if it means being the CIO of a cornfield.
Actually we let them get away with it. Soon it will be copy proof CDs when that catches on what will they come out with next copy proof DVDs? oh wait maybe they will try to outlaw the use of VCRs and CD burners all together...
oh yeah and dont forgot about those so call copy protected hard drives that they are also working on....
I saw the movie, and personally I thought it was crap. The previews made the movie seems as if it had a plot (which it didn't) and the ending, only one thing could describe it "What on earth were they thinking" I was suprised the he didn't push a button on his wheel chair and fill the room with water....
Thats a good theory, but again you are putting your trust in the same "justice" system that allowed carnivore to be implemented. but my point was if you are innocent why worry? but if you have been bad, you will be convicted by a computer program and sentenced by a judge that more than likely cant even figure out how to get outlook to check his email. boy dont you just love america?
I dont know about anyone else but I am tried of reading about Carnivore, the way I see is that the FBI is fighting a loosing battle since any half decent crook would probably encrpty there email anyway. And the way I see it is that if you arent dont anything illegal then you should have nothing to worry about, think of the number of emails that passes through an ISP's mailserver each day, do you really think that the FBI will waste their bandwidth scaning all those emails? I would be more worried if the FBI wanted everyone to to turn over a copy of their PGP key.

For christmas I would really love to see all the major websites stream 'It's a wonderful Life'. Then us geeks can really enjoy the true meaning of christmas without having to leave our computers.
Exactly how much control is the government supposed to have when it comes to regulating software? So lets say for example I have a website thats getting 3 million visits/day can the government step in and tell me to give other websites my traffic? I think not, so why should AIM be any different?
This might be a little off topic, but I was wondering if anyone has attempted to dump Linux on one of those cute little Mac Cubes and use it as a server or workstation. Think of the space it would save....
3dfx has the right to sue creative, its their technology and they have the right to protect it. its obvious the 3dfx has the better product and creative and nvida are struggling to stay ahead of the game.
Is it just or or does this sound like a 2 channel ISDN line.
