This isn't new in the USA either, it's called an Automat and the concept is over one hundred years old - a popular form of retailing in the 1930's. Slapping a credit card reader on an Automat and making it into a convenience store isn't exactly futuristic.
You aren't really implying that the United States is as "draconian" as China, now are you? If so, I'm a bit baffled as to why your genitals haven't been prodded with electric stun guns for criticizing the United States. Or did that happen already?
LOTR was great, but Peter Jackson isn't the magic director that will make any movie great. And how anyyone, blinding enthusiasm for LOTR not withstanding, is going to ludicrously maintain that WETA is better than ILM is something I'll never comprehend.
