I work in a team of 4 sysadmins. The way it works is we are all on call during the day and that is part of regular work. We rotate the off-hours pager on a weekly basis. What we do is we have a 1.5 hour pay for weekdays if we have pager, and 3 hours pay for carrying pager on saturdays, sundays, and holidays.
Above this daily charge, if a page comes in we get paid time and a half for every hour we spend working on that specific problem. The one hour rate is defined by our annual salary.
I like this system, and have friends who work for other companies that have similar policies.
Be a big man.
Bring all your stuff - my roomate and I used to go to LAN's all the time. We had 2 19" towers, a 21" and a 19" monitor, spare hubs/switches miles of cables, keyboards, mice, etc. etc. etc.
Just make it worth your time - one year, we stretched our stretched our spring break by another week just staying at this guys house drinking and gaming. Make the LAN's last more than 48hrs and you'll not regret having toted all your stuff.
Why could you not run this CVS on another server that has to 100% uptime (ie. your DNS server, HTTP server). If it holds web-pages in devel that means that you do have a webserver somewhere you can leave on. I fail to see how CVS *MUST* be on one specific machine. I would think that as long as a machine is secure, and has a spare couple of gigs (prbly less than that even) that CVS could be put on any box.
I think it's a good thing too - but not for censorship reasons...
If my school hadn't installed security measures, if my work hadn't proxied out gameing sites, and if my library hadn't filtered pr0n, then I wouldn't be the network/tech savvy guy that I am today. Thanks to all the people out there trying to prevent me from seeing what I want to see, I'm able to not only explore ways to learn how to poke holes in todays technology, but also learn how to plug those holes, and plug new ones that haven't been poked yet.

If you drink, don't park. Accidents cause people.
Personally I find hotkeys, and keyboard commands more than 5 times faster than reaching for my mouse... So who cares how big your menu is, if you're mouse is a whole 9 inches from your hand...
what would you prefer? I shiny new padded set of handcuffs, or a key to remove the ones you have now?
I'm not saying Sun is the key, but I'd worry less about the cuff upgrade and more on finding (building?) a key...
That's all I have to say. If you don't wanna bother price shopping then you probably don't really mind spending the extra dollars... If it's something I want I'll shop around for it... If it's something that I wouldn't wanna spend time shopping for, maybe I shouldn't be paying for it anyways...

I still prefer this one...

--Unix *is* user friendly.
It's just picky about who its friends are.
... already has that.

... and how it says it can produce a 0 and 1 at the same time using two (2) q-bits. Amazing, I wish I could do that with just regular binary bits.
