actually, i believe that it parallels the war of independence much more
than the civil war. brown coats as compared to red coats, the colonies
fighting for their freedom, it speaks for itsself. the show certainly dips
into a southern feel with the speach patterns, and slang but your statement
of racisim is pretty much retarded. the show almost continuously preaches about
personal freedom. oh and not to mention the highly empowered black woman
who married the wimpy geek of a pilot white guy who worships the ground
she walks on. even if it is littered with bodies.
fyi: speakeasy provides DSL without an active

the first thing that needs done is the policing of their predatory practices. this has to be done simply because their market share allows them to dictate absurd contracts to their OEM's et al. secondly i think that while they dont have to release source per se, i think they should release specs on their file formats and protocols such that other OSS projects may be able to interoperate with microsoft products seamlessly. this im certain would also have to be policed simply because they cant be trusted.
perhaps if the multitude of suites
( choice is a Good Thing(tm) could
consolidate around a given set of standards
for file formats / protocols then the problem
of too much choice wont be a problem. this can
be seen to be happening slowly, but im not how
sure it is. therein lies the key.
having gone through a similar situation in my
past. ( currently age 26 ), ive found that
regardless of age, you will go though this sort of
adjustment period with each new employer. you
have to build a reputation through demonstration.
this doesnt happen overnight or even in a few
months. this is done through consistently getting
the job done with minimal stress and hassle on
your fellow coworkers and manager(s). as others
have said, the desired solution isnt always the
most technically correct. take all of the good
advice here, stay low key with as minimal of an
agression factor as possible. take initiative and
quietly get the job done. the repect will come.
BASIC on the TRS-80 at the age of 10. commodore BASIC and 6502 assembler around 11. mix in some apple BASIC between there and the end of highschool. C/C++/FORTRAN etc. in college.
i think one of the most important things to teach kids who are just starting is the problem solving aspect of programming. how to break a problem down into simple to handle components, develop solutions to those componenets and then implement those solutions in the LanguageOfChoice(tm). regardless of wether or not they stick with it, the skills of problem solving will be useful every day of their lives.
myself and the rest of the children in my extended family ( cousins etc ) have grown up in an environment where alchohol was common. and it wasnt uncomon for teens to drink with the family on occasion. i personally didnt drink much at all when i was a kid due to lack of interest. i could when i wanted to without question. i just had no interest.
the same goes for sex/porn. sex wasnt somthing that is hush-hush in my family. kids have questions, they get honest answers. no major porn adicts running around either for the same reason id imagine.
curiousity is sated, and proper behavior was taught at an early age.
is the real reason that adults dont want to deal with these issues with their children, or do they not know how?
Another point is that alot of the Open Source projects have anoter project which provides a GUI front end. so in essence, there is UI development that is decoupled from the core code developemnt. that is where the connection between the average joe user and the UI dev should be.
either way, until the average user is not afraid of mailinga developer with feed back, or even has the desire, were not going to GET the loop closed.
that or a linux based company is going to have to do the research, unless it can be had from a company like apple or MS.
considering the ammount of testing that he said they did with their componenets, i would imagine that if they added yet another processor family, and the whole host of motherboards that are used to support that processor family, the time invested in testing and verification may not meet the expected market. given the number of Athlon boards and the combination of cards that work/ dont with them its prob. not worth supporting AMD until thing settle down a bit.
I think a great example of embedding complex software in everyday appliances is your car. Someone from 1930 could drive one of today's cars, all the software that controls the fuel injectors, oxygen mix and ABS brakes is invisible to the user.
the reason for this is that the interface has changed only slightly since the first car. the car has been around long enough for people to "intuitively" understand the interface. how long has that taken, and how long until computers are in the same situation?
im getting a segfault as well and ran perfly with the pfnfylevel at 7.

what i want to know is this: if i were to implement a prog in the US, and then fly to europe and reimplement the same prog there, and then have 2 different distribution points for the same software, where is the US govt. going to make out w/ these laws? we have to be missing somthing, cause its obvious to everyone but the Govt that this issue is moot anyhow. crypto is all in The Math, which is not bound by export to my knowledge, the implementation is irrelevant for the most part. my guess is that a US citizen can email a algorithim to a collegue in another country for peer review without getting his/ her door busted in by feds. thats all it takes, then The Secret is out. ~Darkfell

nope. TruTheta is derived from the kind of lens used, which is an f-theta lens. marketing then came up with a name for the whole batch of tech. ~J
