I'm a junior in a public high school in Texas. Earlier this school year, this kid for a few days in a row starts picking on me (verbal, spit sunflower seeds at me, pushed me around)... I think cause I don't look like or act I will do anything about it. So one day, I kick his ass (i snapped, I wish I didn't do it in class) after he confronts me and asks for me to do something... There was a substitute in class that day, so she sends us to the principal. That kid tries to make it a religious issue (he's a jew), she doesnt buy it, but she gives both of us a choice between 3 days in school suspension or 3 days saturday detention (I chose detention). That pissed me off, she was like "If there is any harassment in this school you need to tell someone".
When I was looking at a new ISP, SWB (SBC) offered 384kbps/128 for $50/mo w/ 1yr contract and a 2-3 week waiting list... RoadRunner was $40/mo no contract, 3 day waiting list, and it turned out to be about 3mbps/430kbps, and newsgroups and email are never capped... guess who I went with? My friend on the other hand, right before cable was deployed signed up for a year w/ SWB, and he was stuck. SBC is evil!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone here has ever been to any 3rd world country, if you go to any small village, you will almost always see coke no matter where you go, but then most villagers can't afford a computer anyways, so how the hell would they know who microsoft is? This report seems to only show what developed nations see as the most powerful brand names... When North Korea and South Korea made that deal last month, who moved in first to take advatnage of the North Korean market first? No, not microsift, no one in North Korea will hear of Microsoft for years, cause no one will ever be able to afford Office 2000 or Windows 2000 or any other Microsoft product, but Coca Cola has been around for 100 years, and has always been there for nearly everyone, no mater how poor or "opressed" they are.
