The government tells you not to take other people's rights - you comply.
If you don't like - make a new government.
Find you can't? That's because the majority of people in your country like things the way they are.
Sounds like democracy to me...
The internet may feel like it has no geographical boundaries, but it exists in the real world. So long as people insist on asserting that "cyberspace is special and different, leave it alone," they risk having their beloved internet destroyed by over-zealous governments. There are real issues that need to be tackled, about how the internet relates to individual nation states. Ignoring them won't make them go away.
In that case, bravo. I spent the weekend at the Notting Hill Carnival in London, and if there's anything that celebrates different cultures it's that.
We'll just have to agree to differ on the old domains issue though...
Funny that it's Americans protesting again about cutting down on pollution.
Even if global warming isn't mankind's fault, don't you think that it's simply good manners not to expect the rest of the world to put up with your excessive polluting?
If the third world pumped it out at the same rate, you'd clamp down on them within seconds. Probably try to lend them the money to improve. But third world debt's another thread entirely...
If they were at a peak back then, how come the ice caps didn't melt?
If they melt at the current rate, London and various other parts of the British coastline will flood. Now that hasn't happened for many many thousands of years.
I imagine that most of those scientists were about a thousand times more informed than the trolls on/.
Still, we'll probably be dead before the environment gets too bad, so who cares?
Fcuk the future!
The pesticides, herbicides and various hormones currently sloshing around in our rivers and lakes are having a very visible and measurable effect on wildlife.
I think I'm right in saying that they weren't put there when a volcano erupted.
I agree. If we can cause the extinction of a significant proportion of our planet's species and remove a hefty chunk of it's forests, who's to say we can't change the environment?
Whether or not we're causing global warming, it seems certain that we're causing the thinning of the ozone layer which has a very real effect on our health.
A large company like IBM SHOULD cater for the laws of Australia when designing a website for the Australian Olympics though surely?
As a libertarian, you should understand the need for certain laws to protect people's rights, or are disabled people not worth it in your opinion?
I suspect that some people hide behind the mantle of "libertarian" when they actually mean "screw you, I'm busy seeking self-gratification while trampling over everyone else."
What a load of pretentious, meaningless rubbish.
Pull your head out of your arse and you'll see that people live in countries. These countries have different languages and cultures. That's the way it is. The majority of us delight in our differences and do not want to become a boring homogenous world.
The easiest way to cater for the different countries / cultures is by geographical partitioning of domains. This system is not perfect, but it works well for people outside of the US.
Yep, databases will only appeal to a certain type of student. The point is NOT to preach to the converted, but to interest the students who might not yet show an interest in computing!
And its big ugly trolls

Oh yes, I imagine you're so much their intellectual superior. It's just that people don't realise it yet.
But they'll see it one day, oh yes.
Then you'll teach them.
BTW, "By creating fear and paranoia, the liberal left can further there own agendas," why ruin the post with your paranoiac ranting?
