"If we train kids in school now, to turn in their classmates, how long until we ask them to rat on their parents, for anti-social behavior, the use of drugs, etc."

Actually, I think it's the reverse. We've been teaching our kids to rat out their parents for years...(think D.A.R.E.)

Now they've just made a natural progression from trying to convince you to rat out your parents to ratting out your classmates.

And to think...when I was in school being called a "Tattletale" was tantamount to being called a "Dirty-rotten MotherFucker"....

I have not used it yet, as nothing I've heard about it (at this stage) makes me want to deal with the hassle.

I can say that as a tech support person at an ISP I REALLY wish all the sheeple of the world were not being directed to download v6 to cure all their woes. I've had a hell of a time trying to support customers who call saying "I just d/l Netscape6 and now I can't do this, and that doesn't work, and how do I do that other thing?"

It's pretty hard to tell your customers to stay away from the "bleeding edge" when they keep running across things on the web telling them they NEEEEEEED it...

Just wanted to let you know you are not the only one here that digs hiphop. 8-9 years ago it was ALL I listened to!

I am not that 'hardcore' any longer, and am no longer up on all the newest bands. I primarily listen to oldskool (late60's-70's) rock and roll anymore, but I love and listen to EVERYTHING, with exception to the hardcore death metal stuff of which we speak, and country. (No, I don't do bubblegum pop junk either.)

    I have well over 300 cd's spanning a large spectrum -

    Ice Cube, TuPac, NWA ect.
    Andrea Bocelli, Charlotte Church

Tom Waits, Nick Drake, Ani DiFranco

VanMorrison, Clapton, Cocker (Joe), Stevens (Cat)
    Floyd, Doors, Airplane(Jefferson), Zeppelin
    Miles Davis, Coltrane
BB King, Etta James, Robert Johnson

Hell...I even have the Rocky Horror Picture Show!

So, although I don't primarily listen to rap and r&b anyMORE..I still love it and listen to it fairly regularly.

As a side note: If you have not yet heard of or checked out Spice1 - you should do it. He kicks much ass.

Instead of questioning the intelligence of Gore supporters in Palm Beach, perhaps you should be questioning the intelligence (integrity?) of the election officials.

The only thing 'suspicious' regarding the 'hundreds of new votes for Gore' may have something to do with the fact that a block of *400* votes FOR GORE never even made it into the initial count.

We are talking about a block of *400* votes, not spead amongst the candidates, but 400 specifically meant for Gore. And that is one of MANY irregularities.

Okay, so you've got the NUMBERS figured out - now lets pay attention to W-O-R-D-S, or more specifically, names.

Reform Party, 1996 = Ross Perot

    Reform Party, 2000 = Buchanon

Now, although these two men both call themselves "Reform Party Candidates", and although most of us would indeed lump them together in the "Fruits and Nuts Party" - they are, indeed, 2 very different varieties of fruits and/or nuts.

In conclusion - one group of 'nuts' in 1996 may have very well voted for the 'fruit' Perot in fairly large number. It is doubtful that as many 'fruits' voted for the 'nut' Buchanon in 2000. Particularly since the demographic of the area in question is in a large part elderly, jewish, registered Democrats.

I seriously doubt Buchanon was/is a hero in the eyes of many jewish voters ;)

Nader is a hypocritical, lying, evasive, authoritative freak WHO DOES NOT LIVE UP TO THE IDEALS HE IS RUNNING ON!! Sure, he sounds great, but do some checking into his history and you will find that how he lives is in direct opposition to what he says.

Very simple. What speaks to me will not always speak to you, and vice versa.

Human beings are very diverse. Assuming you are a christian (which is my impression) you believe that we are made in the image of God. Is your view of God so narrow as to believe he/she/it is not vast enough to speak to us all in a way that will have meaning to us? If christianity has no meaning to me, do you not think god could still speak to me in a way I would understand? Maybe that 'way' would be the teachings of buddhism which strike a chord in my soul that christianity could never reach. (Disclaimer, I am not a member of any religion, including buddhism)

A personal relationship with god is just that...a personal relationship, no matter what 'religion' you claim to be a part of. God's big enough for all of us - too large and too diverse to fit in one group's back pocket.

Just look at the rhetoric coming out of the Congressional Republicans- that we have to reduce taxes in X, Y, and Z, and that states should have more freedom to decide A, B, and C.
