The most important thing you can do is to communicate to her that you understand and you ARE OK with the way she is. I grew up with adhd, and being told that what you are is wrong your whole life becasue they think its something you choose can be really damageing to her self esteem. arrgg. that was a very adhd type ramble...
he's right, damn, i am 4? years into my degree, now, seen four different schools, but besides that, i have seen more things, and been more people and done more things than ANYONE my age who is likely to graduate within the 4-6 year timeframe for a graduate degree. you only get one go at life(unless your buddist) so live it. its harder, a lot harder, but much more rewarding. it's a bit lonely, but I think it has been worth it, not to have done the same party/sleep/study for the last four years as everyone else.
if you have unlimited money, then this question isn't important to you, but the answer is simple. But what you need to get your job done. I do 3d animation, and i have 200 bucks. the display looks chunky, so i buy a geforce 3(this was a while ago) same thing goes for things you can't afford. I had constant headaches from my CRT, but i didn't have enough to buy an lcd, then that magic number roled around( for me it seems to be about 200-300 bucks) and now i have no more headaches and a 15 lcd display. so, trust me, nothing is more satisfying than having just what you need. there is no guilt about buying at the right time, because I can look back and say, "yea, that geforce 3 droped 100 bucks the day after I bought it, but now I have my work done, and the money really, really doesn't matter".
Suspention is just a paid vacation from hell. i got suspended for 2 weeks for hacking(they didnt have any passwords and i was browsing network neiborhood)the principals computer. I got my revenge though, passed out the combos to all the lockers and made them replace all the locks! and went to mac world san fransisco while suspended. suspention is fun! enjoy it!
