    It's as if we were secure without another country having them. Americans tend to think they are the only country allowed having them. Living in a small country is sometimes scary : looking around and staring down into a weapon pointed at you, from all sides.

    Using herbicides is in the long term useless, and even dangerous, because we will end up with resistant plants, with toxins in them which will eventually end up in the food chain, which is in itself already becoming more and more polluted. Can you say Cancer ?

    This mentallity of "us" vs "them" is actually a trick of the rich/powerfull. It has been used in all of history to let the common people stop thinking and follow the leaders blindly. (Another such a trick is religion) When they have stopped thinking, those leaders can do whatever they want to enrich themself(harvest oil) and give themselves more power.

    What are the effects of global warming ? The public opinion thinks it's only about a higher average temperature, but in fact, the effect is more extreme weather : more storms, higher maximum temperatures, lower minimum temperatures.

    Indeed, the environment will have no LONG term effects of our destruction, and if i say long, i mean millions of years. In the short term however, the planet could become uninhabitable for humans, because we destroyed the environment in which we grow our food. Another thing that is worth mentioning : if we continue to use oil as our sole use of energy, there will be an all-out civil war in about 10 to 50 years, because oil-production will collapse.
    Furthermore : be ware of total belief in science.

    ... that there is criticism inside America, because on this side of the ocean, we sometimes get the feeling that Americans are just blindly following their government, and they are becoming what they acuse most middle-east countries to be : fundamentalistic fill-in-your-religion-here (christians/muslims).

    I think the problem lies in the fact that succesfull companies were nearly without exception founded by people with ideas and people with brains. A good name for these people is "geeks". These companies tend to get taken over in the long run by people only interested in making money in the short term and thus squeezing everything they can from those companies those last people are usaully called managers and economists, so my message to all "geeks": get those fuckers out of your companies right now, while your business still runs.

    Maybe the source of this shipping jobs to 2nd and 3rd world countries lies in the fact that those countries have a low living standard. This low living standard is a direct consequence of our exploiting those countries. This is very easy to understand, and the economic backlash is being seen now.

    Maybe the best solution would be to not agressively invade other countries by mylitary or economic force. I think a friendly approach to developping nations is a very succesfull tactic. I wonder myself time and time again why so few people ask themselves why 9/11 happened ?

    What, if this were practiced in the software industry, we would have something like M$? Oops. Now that is exactly what could happen, because it would be possible for a company to copyright a piece of DNA of GM-rice, and by 'releasing the rice out in to the wild' it would become very easy to contaminate every last field with that particular piece of DNA. And because that piece is copyrighted, you couldn't sell that rice, unless you pay to the corp, which would mean that every farmer in the world would have to pay. And yes, some corps out there already have actually sued over farmers which field was accidentally contaminated with GM-stuff. I really think that's frightening.

    1/"we must remember that we live in a country based on freedom" This freedom is based on some "actions" in past and present that suppress other people in the world. An example : Israel. This leads to wide anti-american feelings. I have read a lot of intelligent remarks from many Americans who apparantly know of this, but the majority of the Americans are misled.
    2/The democracy you are so proud of is not a democracy, it is a lie to the american people, who are given a 2-party system that doesn't give any choice at all. Because of this, the country is in the hands of the oil- and weapons-industry. That's not a good background for peace is it ?

    To declare war on Iraq would be the most stupid thing to do. Because :
    1/ Iraq would use its nuclear weapons, just because of this, they don't have a good enough reason yet, don't give them one.
    2/ What do you want to attain by that ? Replace Saddam ? with another one like him ? The USA has placed Saddam there USA LEADERS ARE HYPOCRITS THAT ENDANGER THE WHOLE OF THE PLANET Or is there an election coming up ? A 2-party system is no democracy.
