  1. Re:Perhaps on Napster Back in Court · · Score: 1

I'm not to sure about that... I think the RIAA really wants in for the money. I definitely agree at the fact that they want to control everything, but I believe they might settle for something like a monthy rate. Since Napster can be seen as the largest music database, there's definitely an opportunity for RIAA to take advantage of the current situation and cut a deal that brings them a portion of the $$

  2. IRC is kind of dying in general... on EFnet Hits Turbulence · · Score: 1

I personally think that newbies find IRC to difficult to understand, and prefer to use simple programs like ICQ or AIM. I remember many years back learning how to IRC with IRCii (unix-based irc client), and it took me a good 20 minutes before I figured out how to /join, /msg, and all that fun stuff. Of course there's Mirc which is probably the client most people use, since it's easier to manage many channels at a time, and since it's for Windows. Anyways, basically I think that people who will get sick and tired of EFnet because of all the splits and such are just going to stop using IRC protocol, and start using ICQ, MSN, AIM, etc... Oh ya, and just a note. I hate people who think IRC is Mirc. That's like saying the Netscape or Internet Explorer is the Internet. Ugh.

  3. What distro to use? on SuSE 7.0 · · Score: 1

Back in the day, Linux was the only operating system I'd ever touch with a 10 foot pole. I dispised windows for the simple fact that it lacked power. I felt so limited to what could be done or discovered by Windows, I simply refused to use it. However I eventually fell back to Windows for the simple fact that I wanted to play games and use well known applications. It's been a while, but now I find that there are so many distrobutions to choose from, it's difficult to determine "which is best for you". Slackware used to be my favoriate, simply because it was secure and neat, but it used old libs and sorta died. Which distro is the best for you? I guess the only way you can really determine that is by trial and error, since everyone has a different preference. Some people prefer simplicity which could fall towards Redhat for example, and some prefer it "raw". I find them all very similar, however some scream that Debian owns Redhat, and vice versa. Perhaps a comparison between the distros would be an interesting touch...
