I find it ironic that with all Microsoft's huff about opening up standards they code name their next couple of OSes after islands! It's even funnier considering Vienna is in the EU.
Here's another use: Pass out the bluetooth earphones. The whole family is sitting on the couch. All of a sudden, fighting for the remote is no longer a problem. No one has to move to different rooms to catch their shows. Who knows, people might even interact with each other again!
I've been using a TypeMatrix for a little over a year. The points I like are the non staggered keys, and, on the model I use, a Dvorak switch and labels. It took a little getting used to, but I find it well worth it. The arrow keys are easily reached with the right hand. The price isn't bad either at around $100.
The only drawback I've found are the insert, home, end, page up and page down keys as they are function shifted from the F8 through F12 keys. Hardly a problem, I just remapped them.
In my world, hacking is both an art and a science. My case in point is the backlight on my laptop. As the CCFL tube died recently; I decided there must be a better way. The science portion was using my technical knowledge to determine what circuit I would need to power LEDs rather then the CCFL tube. The artistic portion was using imagination to come up with an alternative to the CCFL tube in the first place.
Artists and scientists overlap skills on a regular basis. However they don't like to admit it. Seems to me to be the reason for the term of _applied_ arts or science.
Well, maybe Bill Gates will now finish his degree at Harvard. The question is, will he pass the course?
Sorry folks, my grasp of geography is weak before the second coffee. All the same, is this appeasement of the EU?
