On a serious note though, why would we want to restrict the I2 to such a "Brave New Worldish" vision? You are entitled to your opinion, but your vision is quite disturbing. Why even bother? You forget that companies ability to make money, eventually will lower the price of connecting to it and web space. What if a child wanted to take a virtual real time tour through a Parisian museum, from his home in California? Woo...somebody needs their 2nd cup of coffee this morning.

Still it makes you wonder about their testing procedures, as it took the online mags to figure out the problems for Intel.

There appear to be a lot of regulations as to how the cells are used? I don't know but IMHO, it seems like a waste as the article points out: "federal money could not be used for the destruction of embryos to get the cells. That job would have to be done by privately funded researchers who could then pass the useful cells to federally supported scientists, creating a separation of responsibility for the embryo's destruction that opponents have criticized as morally meaningless."

Politics at its best. The embryos are destined to be "discarded" anyway. What the heck is the difference?

No, you are half right. It has to do with Taranto...but it has to do with Tarantullas:

    And I quoteth:
"The St. Vitus' dance became a real public menace, seizing hundreds of people, spreading from city to city, mainly in the Low Countries, in Germany, and in Italy during the 14th and 15th centuries. It was a kind of mass hysteria, a wild leaping dance in which the people screamed and foamed with fury, with the appearance of persons possessed. In these convulsive, frantic, and jerky dances, religious, medical, and social influences probably interacted in response to such things as the epilepsy-like seizures of persons suffering from the Black Death. Italy was afflicted with tarantism, an epidemic presumably caused by the bite of venomous spiders. Its effects had to be counteracted by distributing the poison over the whole body and "sweating it out," which was accomplished by dancing to a special kind of music, the tarantella."

True, but look at the medium of which this is being done on. The relative ease of use of this auction will allow for a buyer to purchase of a lot less cost than it would be to go through a regular physical auction. In response to your "large corporation site" problem, it would not happen. They depend on the public image because they are VERY well known sites. If a company that size were facing such a problem, I guarantee that the sites policy would change (as soon as it would hit one of the web's thousands of news places../. included). That is why I was merely stating that for a smaller website that comes a dime a dozen, it really is not worth the aggravation. This is afterall simply a naming convention.

Your name is rejected. Here's a simple solution...GO ELSEWHERE. The website is obviously run by incompetent people who care more about posterity than content so why would you want to be associated with them anyways? Anyways, even in this case its not even about posterity, just a silly naming convention.
Regardless of whether its wrong or right it is still THEIR server. If you don't like it, write a letter to the webmaster once again stating why their convention is silly and explain why you will not visit their site (also mention that you will not encourage others to visit either).
Simply: They are incompetent. You have a choice. Exercise your choice.

Examine you in your present, for you may not exist in your future.
