  2. The plural of VAX is VAXen. on Tiny Linux Boxen · · Score: 0

The plural of VAX is VAXen. Therefore, the plural of one Linux box is Linux boxen. Yes, I understand that y'all are too young to have heard the phrase "All the world's a VAX", but the DEC (that's Digital Equipment Corporation for you young'uns) VAX was the first popular Unix box.

  3. Methodology flaw. on Workstations: Unix losing to NT · · Score: 1

The problem is that this is a traditional i386-NT vs sparc-Solaris or parisc-HP-UX comparison. Any such comparison that ignores i386-Linux is like comparing oranges and half-dollars. Look at them the right way and they're both round.

  6. Wrongo, Jon-boy, it's about reputation on In Defense of Anonymous Cowards · · Score: 1

Anonymous Cowards are 1) idiots, 2) cowards, and 3) only worth ignoring. If you can't be bothered to fill out a form, I won't bother to listen to you. If you're too afraid to stand behind your opinions, your opinions are worthless to me. Get a backbone, creep.

Anonymous Cowards have no reputation to protect, therefore they can say anything they want. On the other hand, they have no reputation to protect, therefore anything they say is of no value. I wish Rob had a way to permanently filter out AC postings -- I've never seen one worth reading.

  7. DiamondMM HomeFree on Linux IR Project Leader Interviewed · · Score: 1

You must have talked to someone other than the person I talked to. Robert Jacobson, marketing manager for the product, said that I was the first Linux user I'd heard from, and that Diamond was very hostile to outside developers since they'd had several bad experiences even WITH NDAs. However, they've got my name and phone number should they change their mind and decide they want a Linux driver.
