It's actually pretty straight forward and the language hasn't changed a lot since the DOS days. Standard data manipulation keywords. There is enough stuff in the help file that if you are working on an existing project you should be able to figure it out.
And this is why, if Jesus returned today, the Pat Robertson's, Bush's, Coulter's, O'Rielly's and such would be nailing him to a cross all over again. Unless of course he repented and became a venture capitalist or....
For my own small room -- I have no raised floor. Power is on the wall, with cords under raceways. cable is in the air using ladders. It's only 3 racks, no big deal. For cooling, I had to go low budget and cut a hole through the brick and block wall in order to set in a jumbo industrial window unit. It is blowing air across the front of the racks and I'm amazed at how cool the back of the racks are.
You haven't put a dime in Social Security for you. You are putting in a dime for those who are drawing now. Make sure that the population that you and your generation whelp have jobs and contribute and you will get something.
Remember, no one has ever said that all the retirement funds you need are covered by Social Security. It's there as a hedge against failing investment houses, market crashes, bankrupt employers scuttling their portion of the promise to save the execs and stockholders and other rogues that leave workers high and dry.
Why leave anything to heirs? That class has few shining examples. Grandpa Bush makes a fortune selling oil to Hitler and now George has no concept of earning a living. Make 'em work for what they get.
I worked consolidating serveral data operations from various older centers into a new building. Pulling up a tile and searching down through the archeological strata of cables was amazing. Fiber on top, then a layer of UTP, then coax (getting ever thicker as you got close to the concrete), then--finally that moment of truth when you find the AC plug you were looking for, and the frayed wire next to it that knocked you back. There was no room for airflow in those places.
Fortunately, the new datacenter had cable trays under the floor, tiles at 30", nicely labled AC outlets that matched the rack and region names. I shudder to think what will be like in 30 years.
All I see are the same ads for the same cars over and over again. I wonder sometimes--if they stopped spending so much money marketing to us as if we were complete idiots--would they have more money for R&D?
The thing is--this was the first time in 4 years that I have ever gotten this close to first post (not that this drives me). I just didn't want to risk the lame 'fp' that is 10 threads down the page.
I've always slammed my pyschologist sister when she starts talking about the latest therapy as the holy grail of mental health by dragging up electro shock, lobotomy, drugs, and the like to point out that, for the most part those docs know not what they do. I could see this being the next 'hot therapy' and overdone without regard to long term issues.
Yeah, the 'overlord' stuff does get lame and old, but then, so will I.
I am not disenfranchised. I make OK change as an IS manager.
I don't want to pay for satellite TV when I only want 3 or 4 channels. Cable is a government endorsed monopoly that wants to charge me $500 to run the cable from a major highway to my house in the woods, and I still only want to watch 3 or 4 channels. Plus, they told me that if they hooked up any one else on that new leg, the new subscriber would not have to pay a steep fee and I would not get a refund.
Unless the providers actually begin to offer subscription based services instead of 'in Soviet TVLand, cable watches you' packaging, I won't play. So when broadcast goes dark, I will not watch TV.
I don't know about that...Zell Miller was fairly liberal when he was governor, but has turned quite rabidly conservative as he has gotten older. And frankly, he makes me think of my Dad as he began to slide into the clutches of Alzheimer's. I keep thinking whenever I hear Zell speak or read his writings, "Get some Aricept".
This is the key. If it has an onerous protection that benefits only a few...don't participate. Don't buy, don't watch, don't go there. Find some local entertainment and support the artists in your neighborhood. Change your life. Stop being fodder or cogs.
Spread the word. Oh, it will take a generation or two, but you're wasting your breath yammering at the power brokers. If you didn't cough up the cash, after the vote you are meaningless. Don't spend money where it benefits them or the ones who own them.
Yeah, I have to second that. The pain is that most of the stuff has a okay price until you realize that you have to do the rebate dance to get the savings. I rarely do the rebates. Always get the money when I do. I just forget. I'd rather order from NewEgg, Mwave, or PCConnection if I can't find it on eBay.
I was pleasantly suprised by the Fry's that opened in Atlanta recently. Like a super Radio Shack (the parts portion of it-or a ham/hobbyist shop), MicroCenter, BestBuy, MediaPlay all rolled into one. Still, give me my online retailers for 90% of my needs.
What is this support everyone keeps talking about? I've have never gotten an answer from Microsoft for a problem or issue. Usually just a finger pointing to another vendor saying that it was their issue, not Microsoft's.
I'm glad that I don't have to pay to use the knowledge base and especially glad that Google finds articles in the Microsoft database faster that Microsoft does, cause those are the only answers to problems with the server, desktop, and apps that I have ever gotten from Microsoft.
Small network, 4 W2k servers, Exchange 2000, SQL Server 2000, several Linux servers, 40 users on a mix of W2k and XPsp2, MS Office, OOo, and a couple of inhouse apps, no big deal, but I'm glad I don't have to rely on the Redmond bandit for help.
Longhand is OK, but everytime I use whiteout with my typewriter I pass out. I'm going back to using correction ribbon.
Maybe if I didn't inhale so deeply from the bag...
Also, http://unversalthread.com/ http://fox.wikis.com/ and http://hentzenwerke.com/ as well as msdn have all been around for years.
...but I bet you found that it was an easy language to learn!
Fun, too!
I can be as slack as I want!
Praise Bob!
If so...
...then teach more creation thoeries than just the one pushed by Chri$tianity.
These poeple are johnny come latelies.

Just poke'm in the eye with a sharp stick and forget about it.
And didn't that turn out to be a serious stretch of language.
When I can order channels a la carte...then cable will have lived up to it's promise.
Is that why we say...
KeepItSimpleSmartass...?
I hope this is sarcasm.
Helps that I keep the thermostat at 68F.

Maybe /. is dying.
I had a Zeos Pantera that would only run if the room was 80 F and above. Easy to use during the summer, hard to keep running in the winter.

Realizing that flaw though, I don't buy the stuff with rebate prices. I buy the stuff with a real upfront price and leave the rebates for others.
