I've always wondered, how do we know our own galaxy's shape? From our point of view. do we just look 360, more stars there, less stars here, therefore we're on the rim side of the galaxy?
In clearer areas, like high elevation or low humidity, and away from light pollution, you can practically see it with the naked eye.
But beyond that I'm sure they've whipped together a few models with super computers to demonstrate it.
Best joystick I ever had was an Amiga Power Stick (Atari variety) -- the ones they sold to finance the development of the chipset which eventually became the heart of the Commodore Amiga. They were the best.
Is digital photo editing finally getting both powerful and easy?"
And it wasn't before?
I certainly didn't think so. I don't find Adobe Photoshop to the the least bit intuitive. The online help is fairly useless, unless I assume you already know what you are doing. I spent $600 buying this a couple years ago and still do most of my photo editing in other tools because they are a bit more obvious how to navigate. Photoshop may be a breeze once you've been trained on it.
I've been a bit put off, too, by the lack of books which actually teach you, run you through some comprehensive exercises so you then can figure out your best approach and tools to use.
I tried to find a class at the local community college, but they went through a lot of spending cuts and that was one of the programs that was cropped.
Cool as beans, but still won't save dear old Hubble, will it? The one thing Hubble
can't find,
no matter how much straining of limits is the willingness of NASA to save the faithful servant. With recent budget
cuts for Katrina and the on-going war, don't hold your breath for a reprieve.
they should nickname the mini star, Cooper
Got an ETX for Christmas? You should know this site.
Seems a little hasty to make such a claim. VHS isnt dead yet. The only media I can think of that is dead is the 8-Track and 70 RPM.
Exaggerating death throes isn't meant to end sales, gods no. If that suddenly happened Bush would probably have to slash taxes and then tell everyone to take that $300 out and buy a stack of DVDs (except anything he finds morally repugnant, such as gay cowboys). The MPAA would have to suddenly circle the wagons, up-end the Bucket 'O Lawyers and proclaim the fall-off is the result of rampant piracy.
Nope, nothing like that.
What they mean to do is push the new HD-DVD or Blu Ray technology, even if it's not on the store shelves just yet. What's desired is to whip up a frenzy -- to make it a self fulfilling prophecy.
Anyone remember (the late) Richard Pryor as the Wiz, changing the colours? Red is dead, wouldn't be seen in green, etc.
MS deserves bashing for the flaw, but there's a difference between an untested one-man release, and the official, QA'd patch. Part of the reason Microsoft couldn't release a patch immediately is because they need to make sure their fix doesn't break snything else.
Often, historically, Microsoft's approach has been the same, to just take away the offending bit.
When the actually correct the code is where Microsoft have sometimes introduced new vulnerabilities, perhaps because the focus of their Q/A is too narrow.
Hopefully the panel will go out and actually try to reproduce his results rather than having a political debate of whether not it is.
His business ethics are questionable, but if there is some truth to this then they should be able to follow a scientific method in order to prove or disprove the falsification of the findings.

Why bother investigating?
Anything this guy has ever written should be trashed.
What worries me most is anything he has said or done which casts doubt on his work or credibility will be ruthlessly employed by the opponents of Stem Cell Research, which will be of no actual good service to anymone except on a dogmatic approach.
And then they will go on to assert that their word is beyond reproach.
From a press conference this morning in Seoul the following quotes:
"There is no truth to the charges of fake stem cell research and cloning," said Hwang Woo-suk
"There is no truth to the charges of fake stem cell research and cloning," said Foo Bee-bletch
"There is no truth to the charges of fake stem cell research and cloning," said Park Yur-car

Who thinks of the Laker's power forward Kurt Rambis of their 80's team whenever a Rambus article appears? Granted they're spelled differently, but my brain doesn't seem to care...
Dunno, but I'm such and old git I think of [Too Much, The Magic Bus], which sounded like (zoomba the magic bus.)
I have been the beneficiary of several of their infringed upon patents, enjoying the benefits of cheap memory in almost every device I own.
As have I and undoubtably so have pretty much every hardware maker who caters to the budget minded.
Still, I think that the technology would have gotten much futher had Rambus licensed the patents.
Depends. If they were greedy, which I thought was the case as they wanted to push RDRAM, they could have driven completely different architecture to be accepted (which, depending upon what you believe to be the case) they would have proably amended patent applications to cover, too. Nothing like a scorpion in your boot, eh?
but does it have a bluetooth mouse that will fit in the slot on the tricorder?
Just wait around, I'm sure Microsoft will enter this market too and establish their own proprietary standards, resulting in a wormhole of death requiring a galactic reboot.

Besides, our galaxy isn't warped, it's Bent!
What do you think?
BTW that is my old MI license plate, which I still have.
What's a vinyl record?
btw, keep away from my rat farm
Well... a few generations of procreation within your family tree may yield the ability to manipulate a 5 finger stick.

Already have it tagged, thanks. I'll doublecheck my version when I get home, though I believe it is 6.0
Alas, not more powerful than the school's regents, who with the stroke of a pen or an 'Aye' can lay waste to an Arts department.
all in favor of increasing the board's stipend say Aye!
Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'm getting a higher-end digital camera to do some Astrophotography with and would like to be able to use PS for the work.

You could very well be right. It's probably only a few more years that fixed media will be relevant.
i say, were can i find the buggy whip shop?
I should say so! I was about to place an order for the complete Black Adder!
