For the same reason that the media loves to use the word pandemic at every opportunity. How many people actually died from SARs or Bird Flu? Compare that to how many die on the highway every single day. Scare people, and they'll always come back to hear more.
More than all these and others, the media loves the comparison like a war zone Perhaps the media are behind the increase in conflict linked to global warming - so they can use those words more often.
"Some places will get hotter, some will actually get cooler, some will get more precipitation and others will get less, over time this will shape the world we live in and our own food sources."
Isn't that the way it's always been?
Yes, but generally these changes have been gradual. We're seeing significant changes in the start of seasons, insect life cycles, migration of birds, etc. over a short time span.
I worry about things about as much as I have control over them. Things like this I have Zero control so I have Zero worries. About the same I worry about a comet impacting the planet. It might happen and there is nothing I can do. Why worry?
According to some studies we've already crossed the tipping point and it's going to happen. So even if every government and every state and every person suddenly did everything they could to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we're going to get that methane anyway.
Where we'll see it is where it affects the flora and fauna directly (altering availability of species in the food chain) and weather - more greenhouse gasses mean more disruption to weather patterns. Some places will get hotter, some will actually get cooler, some will get more precipitation and others will get less, over time this will shape the world we live in and our own food sources.
Time to put REM - End of the World on the iPod and look at housing on higher ground.
Actually, I'm on the go so much I don't usually have the free time to organize things. Those unplanned sick days or times when I'm stuck in an airport are when I finally take stock of my SD card and clean it up a bit.
and I'll stop complaining about lack of SD slots. Especially since the SD cards mostly seem to run crappy FAT file systems. There's really no excuse for that.
I still want an SD card so I can get data on and off my phone when it won't fully boot.
That's what we ran into here, I have a microSD to SD adapter clipped to the wall for when someone's mobile has gone inert.
Because I have 32GB SD in my SGS4 I tend to be lazy about cleaning it out because it's so damn full of stuff. So it sits there and I contemplate adding more memory.
And I probably won't buy into either XBone or PS4 (_maybe_ until my PS3 60GB finally gives in and can't find any other PS3) because they might change their mind back to the beginning of their original secret plans as soon the market is flooded by devices.
I stopped playing games years ago, but only bought two consoles, one of them used. The willingness to fork over money for New Locked-up gaming hardware and New games locked into one console have left me utterly fascinated. Not for a business model (which isn't particularly brilliant) but for the lemming-like procession of people queuing up to be shackled. Yeah, some of the games a pretty neat, but if people would stop buying this Console + Game = -$$$ line of math you'd find the games finally migrating all back to the desktop, laptop or tablet. I figured consoles would all be dead by now.
Not calling Microsoft a paragon of virtue here, but what are you recording offline anyway? PS4 is a great console, I might get one, but the xbox bashing is starting to feel a little over the top.

That was nearly half a century ago, and I would put the blame for this more on the citizens of the United States, who elected and re-elected the people who controlled how the war was fought.
Only last year, Dow finally agreed with the EPA to clean up dioxin spills
For many contaminants, including dioxin the best solution is often to leave it alone. It is not very mobile in soil, and disturbing it usually does more harm than good. If you remove the contaminated soil, where are you going to put it? In a landfill? Why would that make it less likely to expose people? Politicians are under pressure from their constituents to "do something" and are often unconcerned if the "something" actually makes sense.
The overlooked scope of "What Constitutes Dioxin Pollution" is what I'm concerned about. There are hundreds of chemical compounds classified as Dioxins, few of which are toxic to humans or to the environment. A crazed television host claimed Midland, Michigan was crawling with people in the throes of death, with open sores caused by dioxin exposure. It brought 60 Minutes and many other top news shows and personalities to the Michigan city in the late 1970's. Dow and state environmental engineers examined what was being claimed to be in the environment and found two things: one, the concentrations were very low, within state guidelines; two, the dioxin compounds were mostly inert or harmless. The other fun bit was where they originated - Dow once had its own power plant, which burned coal, what was found in the soil were the remains from the powerplant exhaust, not dumping and not incinerating toxic compounds.
The squeaky wheels which have coerced Dow into voluntary cleanup of some areas were environmental lobbying groups, like the Natural Resources Defense Council.
they sure aren't likely to say that they used a cellphone when crashing that's for sure...
anyhow, driving while distracted is illegal in most countries for obvious reasons, no matter what the distraction. yet some douches read the newspaper while driving.
Driving while nattering on the phone is as common as dirt. Just because there's some legislation passed does not stop people from doing it. I can sit at a light and watch drivers go past and often more than 50% are holding a phone to their head with one hand. If they put up some cameras to record this and mail out the tickets it might change things a bit, particularly as insurers would be alerted as to who is a higher risk.
I've seen the darnedest things while driving - applying make-up, shaving (face, not legs or back hair), dogs running back and forth in a car (right across the driver's view) and lots and lots of nose-picking (don't follow too close, fred, they're liable to fling a booger on your windshield!)
I will say this, every time I've seen an accident or been hit in one, the other driver had a phone in their hand. I'm curious who funded this study.

How 'bout some more beans, Mr. Taggart?

Shhh. Don't be telling people they can run an operating system in less than 2 GB.

the Gold is what you have to give them, not to be confused with some pseudo-status.
'and for Xbox Live Double Platinum we'll give them regular updates to the software used for paying us!'
