This way I know instantly who's spamming me. And I can then stop that address.

  6. The ideal Windows XP on Dan Gillmor on WinXP · · Score: 5, Funny

    The Ideal Windows XP

No Internet Explorer It stifles competition. People can download the browser of their choice.

Java Plugin Loaded Windows XP should support Java out of the box so that people do not have to download it.

No MSN Icon on the Desktop Windows XP is already one Microsoft Product. They cannot use it to 'push' other products they produce.

AOL Icon on the Desktop AOL Time Warner should have a right to advertise on and windows desktop. After all they are not Microsoft.

Passport should be removed If people want a crappy free e-mail account or Instant Messaging they should refer to the above AOL Icon on their desktop.

Code-Signing is bad Microsoft should not be allowed to tell people what drivers/software have been proven to run under windows xp. They can find this out on their own.

Windows Activation Microsoft has no right to attempt to stop piracy. After all piracy much like death is inevetible. Any attempts to prolong life.. err I mean stop piracy should be stopped.

In conclusion I also feel that the word Microsoft should be removed from WindowsXP. After all it's just an operating system. Obviously the internet is much more important therefore WindowsXP should be labeled accordingly as AOL Time Warner Windows XP.

Imagine being the team leader up on the space station. You live in a tiny space with people you've been training with for over 6 months.

You know who get's testy on a lack of sleep, who panics in an emergancy, who snores, etc.

Now imagine that someone you've never met before is going to come up and live with you in your tiny (I've had closets bigger) space station. You have no idea what he's like, you have no idea how he would act in any given situation.

It's not that he can't do the job, it's just that he's an unknown. And when you're stuck in space, you want as few unknowns as possible.

So from what I read in the article, his skills aren't the problem. The crews familiarity with him is the problem. Hell have him hang out with the next crew going up for 6 months. Then he can go.

  9. Kid's don't learn to deal with strife anymore. on Are Kids Turning Your Kids Into Killers? · · Score: 1

Personally, I think a big problem in society is that kids no longer learn to deal with pain/strife/suffering.

These days we want the best for our children. Which is fine. But maybe we're doing too good of a job. We prevent the child from any 'negative' exposure. And then when the child finally get's some 'negative' exposure (bully, school problems, girl problems, puberty, etc) they dont know how to handle it. So they overreact. They have no basis to judge how bad something is.

It's like if you had spent all your life somewhere warm. Where it never get's below 60F. The first time you go somewhere it's 40F, you say "DAMN it's cold!"

So what if I'm a child who's always gotten what I wanted, never hurt myself, always been loved/cared for/pampered at home, always succeeded, and now.. I fail/someone picks on me/I don't understand girls BAM! this is the worst event ever in my life.

As a corralation. Science recently showed that babies exposed to allergins don't get allergies. While babies not exposed do get allergies.

  10. Cool Light, but not good for Theatre. on Lighting The Future: Lasers And (Wild) LEDs · · Score: 2

As cool as it would be to use something like this in a theatrical production. I don't think it's feasable until they pump up the output.

The specs read as: 46 footcandles at 3ft
    15 footcandles at 6ft
    6 footcandles at 9ft.

A 23 degree source four (from ETC, one of the best theatre lights around)
    does 15342 footcandles at 3ft
    3835 footcandles at 6ft
    1704 footcandles at 9ft.

So as much as infinite color control would be nice, I need more power or no body in the audience is going to see it.

  12. Waiting Patiently. on AMD K7 550 Hands-on Preview · · Score: 2

I'll admit. I was a bit put off by the odd results. But after a little research I learned something that's telling me to wait.

The "Fester A3" board is apparently the same name of the board that's been used to demo K7's for quite a while now. The shipping board is supposed to be a "Gomez" board, with a "C3" number. So is A3 2 debug levels back? If so does that make this K7 2 debug levels back?

Early K7's were supposed to be quite buggy.

I'm just gonna wait for the real-deal before I jump to any conclusions.
