Same with us. We just ran a 2 month search for a programmer (large financial firm, NYC). The pay offered was great - $125/hour - so we got hundreds of applicants.
We ran 3 questions on each technical area we required - sybase, ASP, UNIX and Perl. Only 3 passed. All were H1B's.
I learnt from the experience that recruiters are morons: the majority of applicants they sent in had no fucking clue how to program. I also learnt that managers hate american programmers because they argue too much - they argued with the questions, and they argued with the interviewer. And so they didn't get the job.
The ending is a joke about George Bush. W. is the chief primate, republicans are the party of chimps, DC is full of chimps and Mark Walberg is democrat hollywood looking on in shock. I don't think it has anything to do with the rest of the film.
The Russians were doing pretty well at the time. They actually had better tanks, the T-34s, than the Germans. Still, the Germans almost beat the Russians, killing 4 russians for each german dead. So was it any more "stupid" than Hitler invading France, against the advice of his generals?
Hitler almost won. If the Japanese had joined the attack from the East, as Hitler requested, it probably would have been a victory for the Axis powers.
Look at the death toll.. 18 million Russians died vs. 220,000 Americans... you'll see who won the war against Nazism. Most people will fight to save their land, with the exception of the French. If the Russians had made this film, it would explain clearly why the Russians were willing to sacrifice so much.
"U.S. District Judge Marilyn Hall Patel, issuing an injunction she reworked on the order of an appeals court, said the recording industry will have to notify Napster of the title of the song, the name of the artist and the name of the file containing the infringing material."
They have pay someone to find the song, the filename, check their records, monitor compliance. They'll need to notify their lawyers, have a manager and a vice president to monitor the whole system. They'll need to keep records and a database of the filenames they've blocked. They'll need to do this for millions of songs and billions of filenames.
i presume you are suggesting that the ripper doesn't need to pay anything for the mp3 from the record company. Doesn't that make your system illegal? If not, how do you come up with the 2-3 cents / download figure?
The problem is refunds. I download an eric clapton from you, but its actually a britney spears that you just renamed. Or at least I claim it is. I want a refund, and penalty for wasting my time and bandwidth. How is napster going to resolve that dispute?
Oh yeah, Gnutella was just so successful. Open source isn't gonna kill napster. Napster will kill napster if they start charging a subscription fee.
Also, I don't understand how this will help Edel. Napster is purely a distribution system. Its not a marketing system. So the big record labels will still own the attention span of consumers, and that's all they need. Therefore, its not a panacea to new or unknown artists at all.
The Visorphone uses the GSM network and SIM cards. Wouldn't be nice if the Irish could stop being stupid wankers... And invent cool stuff... and stop killing each other....
Check out http://yesmoke.com/. A pack of ciggies costs $1 to mail order from Switzerland. In America, that pack would go between $3-$5. That's $2-$4 in tax - how much more would you like to tax it?
So if the taxes don't make people smoke less, if they only create a black market, what are you gonna do? Raise the taxes again? Put them in jail?
And job would that be? Let's look at the FBI record of work experience.
Wen Ho Lee - the nabbed the wrong guy, and US Nuclear secrets are who knows where.
Richard Jewel - atlanta bomber still on the run
Unabomber - alluded them for over a decade, until his brother turned him in.
World Trade Center bomb - went off
Waco - 79 people burned to death
In NYC, when the police are walking around the streets, crime goes down. When the police drive around in cars all day, the crime goes up.
Maybe the FBI are incompetent because they sit in front of computers all day in Washington DC. They could do more undercover operations, which were quite successful in bringing down the mafia. They could leave their offices. But that would be dangerous, wouldn't it? Far better to hide scared behind a computer and monitor everyone's communications.
Star Wars Missile defense should be made a global initiative. If only the US gets it, then all other nations will feel threatened, and frankly, i think with good reason. America's occasional imperialistic behavior will be a greater threat.
Instead, a global initiative protecting all nations from nuclear attack could convince many to massively reduce their now innocuous nuclear arsenals.
The alternative is that someone, someday will start a nuclear war.

How does "All I can say is: yup, they're politicians." get a score of 2? Some of these moderators are crazy poofters.
Voting libertarian means pulling the parties towards a greater respect for freedom and civil liberties. Libertarians will never win. Neither will the green party or the reform party. But they were able to get the major parties to adopt some of their more popular platforms. And so can you.
If you spend just 2 hours every 2 years thinking about politics, then spend that timing voting.
Wow! That's 450 peope who hacked SDMI, because you know they wouldn't bother analyzing the losers. Man, does that mean SDMI owes $4.5 million to these people? If SDMI doesn't pay up, you can bet some of the these hackers will publish the crack and sue SDMI's ass.
Either way, its gonna be public that SDMI was gang-hacked. Boom!
I've never voted before. This year I registered to vote just so i could vote libertarian. Maybe sometime in my lifetime libertarianism will be a real force in Washington
It is well-known that the patent system has provided the incentive for the booming US economy. The limited monopoly granted to the inventor is the primary reason why people dream and implement successful business models and technologies. The lack of patents for political policies is responsible for a dearth of innovative solutions in the political realm.
I hereby submit my claim to inventing the idea of patenting political polices and programs (from hereon known as the 4Ps). The 4Ps will allow individuals to gain a limited monopoly, of up to 7 years, on their ideas for political policies and reforms. Any party, individual or government organization wishing to advocate or implement such schemes will be required to pay license fees to the originator of the political idea, in an amount determined by the inventor. A new arm of the US Patent Office will determine if a patent should be awarded, based on the criteria of non-obviousness and the existence of prior art. This new arm will be woefully underfunded and staffed by morons in suits. The 4Ps will stir a boom in the market for political ideas, and herald a new era in government efficiency.
Claims
As inventor of the system of the 4Ps, any party wishing to patent a political idea will pay a license fee.
The US Patent Office will pay a license fee to yours truly for every political patent awarded.
Any political party advocating a policy patented under the system of the 4Ps will pay a license fee both to the inventor of the idea, and yours truly.
Any individual who wishes to examine how and why the idea works (a concept hereon defined as "reverse engineering") must pay an exorbitant license fee to the inventor and the inventor of the 4Ps system.
In time, all bills in Congress will be covered by multiple patents. Far from causing a stifling effect on free speech, the 4Ps will engender a new era of political prosperity in our great nation.
I know the guys working on bluematter. This groundbreaking project cost over $20 million, and can claim a total of 200 downloads. The opposite of user-friendly, it can take up to 47 steps to download and play blue matter tracks.
Of course they know the project cannot succeed. The recording industry will not allow a usable solution. LA is full of politics and cursory thinking. Its also full of money and consultants happy to grab it.
A solution will only come from outside LA's musical clique. Maybe its time for their self-destruction. The internet is destroying the demand for old media - TVs are flying out of our windows, musical tastes are becoming more diverse, theaters are declaring bankruptcy, and movie ticket sales are dropping. Let the new replace the old.
No matter what the EFF or 2600 approach, the reporters are owned by the Media Conglomerate which own Hollywood and the press. And Hollywood is the 2nd biggest contributor to the Democrats, just after Trial Lawyers.
Do you think a bunch of geeks can win a PR battle against those who can drive millions to see masterpieces like Coyote Ugly?
Forget it. We've lost. Unless our newfound wealth can drive the politicians to our camp, and judges to our position. That's why the EFF is our last best hope.

Abstract
Claims
In time, all bills in Congress will be covered by multiple patents. Far from causing a stifling effect on free speech, the 4Ps will engender a new era of political prosperity in our great nation.
Judge: Court is in session. The accused is charge with placing classified materials on unclassified computers. How do you respond?
FBI: We've conducted a full review of ourselves and we found no evidence of intent.
Judge: Court is adjourned.
Wen Ho Lee: Wait, shouldn't we have an independent investigation?
FBI: We have chosen an independent investigator, impeccable record when he worked for us a few years ago, and he found no evidence of malfeasance.
Judge: Case closed
Wen Ho Lee: Can I choose my own prosecutor too?
Its all in this video
This non-profit expects to generate $150 million in profit this year
No doubt this independent review has already been written
Is it that difficult for the Justice department to diffuse this controversy by dropping Carnivore and just use Altivore?

Insubordination is a crime against the law. Subordination is a crime against the American culture.
