Companies that built themselves on 90%+ overpriced government contracts that didn't get paid for a few weeks deserve to lose a portion of that stated money in the article. Airlines obviously don't fit that bill and the parks system has nothing to do with it but big contractors that lost billions definitely had it coming. It's such a stupid, fragile business model that it deserves to crash and burn in this kind of economic system. For example, if a company makes 99% of its money selling ballistic helmets to the FBI and just lost money because they shut down for a bit, they deserve it for propping up their entire company on one customer. I'm pretty sure the FBI was still fully funded but you get what I mean.
What the hell planet do you live on? The next president, regardless of party, will have to run on killing Obamacare or lose the next election. Republicans don't control both houses so obviously it didn't get overturned thus far, despite many, many attempts. I think it's brought up in congress like monthly or something according to NPR. You don't cost every last person in America a huge amount of money and then go into an election supporting that law. It is absolutely dead soon. It's so poisonous, I don't think the Democratic party will even let Obama endorse a candidate this time around.
I'm in the category of "fucking poor" and the lowest insurance quote I got from that awful website is 2.11x higher than what I'm paying now. So...probably nobody. I heard pregnant immigrant minority ex-convicts might get a bit of a savings though. I wish I was a pregnant immigrant minority ex-convict. They get all the breaks!
Are you kidding me? People dying early and not collecting on social security after paying in? That doesn't cost anything. That makes the government a buttload of money.
Btw, for the last decade or so, who was shooting at us in Iraq and Afghanistan? oh yeah, it was terrorists. If we'd have left them there and did absolutely not one damn thing to try and stop/kill them, well, how much did 9/11 cost the economy?
Let me put this in terms you can understand. If the party planning committee on The Office plans a party and it costs $XXX, the company loses $XXX. If someone walks in and shoots the party planning committee, how much does the next party cost the company? Trick question, there isn't one. Same with terrorists.
In theory, people showing up to hospitals with no insurance and basically getting free care because they never intend to pay are paid for by higher hospital bills to people who do have insurance and can pay. That increases us "good" people's insurance premiums. So now those people are either forced to be insured or pay the government a huge fee on their taxes because of not being insured, which they give to the hospitals or insurance companies. Since now everyone is paying, hospitals can cut their prices by double digits and everyone's insurance goes down.
Since I used to work at a hospital, I asked around and here's the opinion on whether or not all that works in reality: "lol no." Hospitals aren't going to lower their prices just due to more income. They'll give doctor's raises to retain them, redecorate, get new computers, spend money to actually comply with HIPAA, make a new website, etc and charge the same exact price for an X-ray that they always did.
So make a "triple core" edition called an i4 where really 1 core just didn't pass quality control so they turn it off. AMD did it and it sold so well they had to purposely cripple working quad cores to meet the demand for triple core chips.
I have a theory that those T-edition chips Intel made that are just underclocked, hyper-efficient, ultra-low wattage editions of their recent chips are actually just ones that wouldn't run properly at the normal stock clock. I never heard a solid claim that they actually had different voltage regulation circuits or something like that. They just underclocked them and made them have a higher tendency to not click to a full multiplier level as often or for as long.
Awww, I totally would have paid myself a gigantic bonus like that and then told them they can collect the payment from the Department of Go Fuck Yourself. I would at least hire like 15 different cleaning services and take a limo everywhere, especially to court, because those are legitimate business expenses, lol.
Wow, so he tricked them into settling for $110 million when he only has about $5 mil or so in the company. TROLLED! Correct me if I'm wrong but settlements outside of court cannot be converted to wage garnishments, right? He definitely tricked them pretty well.
I agree with that. I build A LOT of computer at my repair and custom builds shop and now that my ad campaign is basically "I still build new PCs with Windows 7" I've had even more. I refuse to sell it. The problem is, most of my virus removal and diagnostic tools don't work on 8 but I can't simply refuse to service it either. But besides that temporary annoyance, I'm doing fine refusing to sell it. I didn't build one single Vista computer the entire time it was out since XP licenses were still available and I kept getting decent used XP machines in to refurb and that's how I intend to handle 8 as well. I REALLY hope Windows 9 doesn't put me out of business though because 7 will stop being available past then.
Let's look at Windows 98. A study posted on slashdot found that if you connect a Windows 98 computer to the internet (with no AV and no SPI firewall on the modem) it caught a virus in 11 seconds on average. That's while sitting idle at the desktop. April 9th 2014 will be similar for XP. Nobody will have a functioning online XP machine past the 8th.
"and is winning positive reviews"
This is the biggest lie I have ever heard. Now you search your computer for vacation photos and get bombarded by bullshit Bing links. The start menu still doesn't exist. I'm pretty sure it still takes a computer engineer to find the shut down button. It's absolute garbage.
"no reasonable expectation of privacy regarding any communication or data transiting or stored on this information system" translated into HIPAA means "lol this website is completely illegal."
The problem with web design is the really talented artists have no technical skills and the technical designers have little artistic ability. Welcome to 3D design of prosthetic limbs like noses and fingers, as the article mentioned. You think a doctor can sculpt a realistic nose in a 3D design software. Hell no! You think a graphics artist can make it medically perfect and attach it? Hell no. So this is not nearly as smooth as the article makes it seem.
For every one iphone there are approximately 4.5 android phones and there's a darn good reason for that. The overly-fragile, drug-trip colored UI-having, overpriced hardware created by suicidal semi-slaves at Foxconn isn't a good product. It just isn't! This isn't 1999. This is Apple 2013, get use to it. On the same note, sell any and all Apple stock you may have.

It's not considered a diamond if it's a liquid. Diamonds are crystalline.
NOBODY WANTS THIS! Who's running Apple, Balmer? They seem to think I want some super-computer-phone. Here's what I want in a computing device: a full sized keyboard, a full sized display, extremely fast responsiveness, gigabit, 500+ GB of storage, a video card capable of gaming, actual games, real software, and a DVD drive. That's called a computer, NOT a phone!
Nobody anywhere has the patience to sit there and create a powerpoint presentation for a school project on a damn phone no matter how fast it allegedly is. You give me a keyboard and 19" display, I'll make 50 powerpoints in the time it took you to make one in this superphone they're planning. Now take that example and apply it to anything anyone would ever do on a computer ever and you'll see my point.
This just in: a freaking buttload of Google ads redirect to malware. If you want an example, type in "[insert name of any manufacturer or anything] support" into Google. 100% of the paid results are fakes, scams, or install malware. This has been true for years. Why don't they do anything about it? $$$$$$$$$ of course.

It looks like you're trying to kill me. YOU MUST DIE!

There's how smart investment day traders think they are and then there's how smart they really are.

No, it becomes water, not "liquid ice." Are you even serious right now?
A reeeeeeeeeeeeeally slow computer with the wrong processor architecture.

Whaaaat? You say a democrat came into office and made government bigger and more aggressive? That's simply absurd! How unprecedented!

I actually got an e-mail about buying lost episodes of Dr Who from a nice Nigerian prince but I deleted it.
