Oh, never knew Killer Instinct was RareWare...

Never liked KI, myself. Fell out of love with beat-em-ups from mid SF2 era, and didn't start playing 'em again until Tekken 2 came out.
Highly unlikely I'll get to play KI now. Did it even have a home console version? If so was it any good?

    Movie Title: Ghostbusters

The bit when Venkman is doing his psychic experiment and keeps shocking the male student.
The really funny part is if you watch closely, he's getting them right, but good ol' Venkman just fancies thec co-ed!
Classic Movie moment. So, do I win a Geek Gold Star?

I've got my Dad well trained... he usually blocks anything that's not from a user in his address book, and deletes anything with an attatchment that he was not expecting. He's not exactly a techie, but he's a lot more savvy than a lot of non-technical internet users

My mom on the other hand, still seems to believe that it's all personally directed at her, and that she should either respond, get angry/offended/whatever, just as if someone she knew in meatspace said/sent it to her. :-)

She's learning, now, but quite often she looks at stuff like those banner ads saying "Speed up your internet connection..." or "You have won..." and she's just not worked out yet that it's all lies. The worst are those emails which claim it's a new critical update from Microsoft. It took ages to convince her that Bill's Boys don't send out neccesary updates through email.

It's the folk who don't have a reality check in the form of a friendly techie around that I'm worried about. If not for me, my folks PC would be riddled with trojans, virii and other malicious software.

We all (apparently) know that console FPS games pale in comparison to PC FPS games?

News to me!! I know nothing of the sort. I play games regularly on my PC, but not FPS! Not since the dark ages! I can't get into any of the stodgy, dodgy FPS titles that come out on the PC these days.

Halo and 'Splitters 2, OTOH are a different class, in my mind. Have you played either of the above?

I do agree with you that Rare are largely rubbish, I've recently posted to that effect myself, and Starfox Adventures takes my fancy not one bit, but I can hardly believe that you prefer PC FPS games to console in this day and age.

IMO, Rare have made a total of two great titles: Jet Force Gemini, and Goldeneye.

Since then, loads of their devteams have jumped ship, and they are continuing to make great titles, ie Timesplitters 2 to name but one.

I've never understood why Rare had such a following. The Donkey Kong games in particular grate on my nerves.

I am by no means the first to utter this sentiment but it is heartfelt. Doncha just wish we could just dump all o' the porn merchants and e-commercializers and go off and start a new internet without them! :-) Seriously though, at one point I believe this will happen. A new web, not tied to the 'commercialized' version which we now see, excusively for non-profit making organizations and individuals.

Calm it there, mate. He likes Linux; You don't; Let's not get personal about it, eh? :-) Now...let me ask you: Who's responsibility is it to write drivers anyhow? The manufacturer's, with all the specs at their disposal, or an Operating System author's? My gfx card happens to be well supported, but I didn't get the driver from my distro...I got it from the manufacturer. It's _their_ product, _their_ responsibility.
