The Sub TREE that Martin-Logan sells is AMAZING... a Tree of Six to Twelve 10" Subs. It's amazing sound quality.

  4. Similar Story on Student Suspended For Taking Teacher's Challenge · · Score: 3

Same thing happened to me. We used Hypercard to program little programs for our class assignments.

One day I did a little program that would just beep the computer a few times whenever you opened my hypercard stack. WELL, unknown to me, I coded the beep routine wrong, and it would beep the computer ~10,000 times.

As an added bonus to this blunder, I did it on Computer #1, the network server (unknown to me).

Yet to keep adding fun things on the pile, the code also beeped ANY hypercard stack that was oppened.

So to sum up the situation, by ACCIDENT, I created a hypercard stack that would Beep a computer 10,000 times whenever ANY hypercard stack on the network was opened. ALL BY MISTAKE !!

So the school called this a VIRUS, and i was givin 2 Weeks In School Suspencion, and I was almost Fined $2,000 for the 'Damages' I caused to the system.

God forbid a REAL hacker would ever break in. They wouldnt know WHAT to do.

  5. Interesting Point of View on Has The Internet Peaked? · · Score: 1

To say the net has peaked is like saying Well, I dont think processors are going to get much faster.

Fact of the matter is, the net is going to be growing in leaps and bounds within the next few years. Not exactly in the public eye, but mostly for the upper class.

Now, being a Microsoft drone (ASP/COM) programmer, I've been to many Microsoft seminars on the whole idea behind the .NET movement. The whole idea is to have access to any of your information, wherever you go. Via PocketPC's running WindowsCE, and wireless broadband technology. But also behind .NET lies the idea that local storage will be obsolete, and that all information will be avail. via the internet.

Personally, I find this very uncomforting. So to get back to my orginal statement, I do belive that the internet will continue to reach peaks, and all time highs, but it will be interesting to see how this Utopia Microsoft has plans out will play in a world of 'Linux Kiddies' and Unix Sys. Admins.

  8. I feel.. on Why First Person Shooters Beat Text Adventure Games · · Score: 1

I feel that Text Based RPG's lost their interest in the public eye when the unser interaction moved from BBS's to Internet. You cannot blame this transition on the computer using public,at least not for the BBS generation. Because, if this was so, there would have been a lot of games utilizing RIP graphics on boards. I think that the people to blame for this transition, for this loss of thought process, is the generation of children who have been brought up to only use computers to game, and not actually learn on them. This generation had all their games bought for them by Mommy and Daddy, and when a game didnt run fast enough, they went and bought a new Video Card, or a new processor. I think text based games do still have a target audience, it's just a lot smaller now because we (a) have moved to *nix systems, and belive that an open source game would be much more interesting than a retail text based RPG, and (b) do not have as much time to play these games anymore. .. thats just the way I feel though...

  12. Not to like, sound a little wacky on Kursk Destroyed By Cavitation Missles? · · Score: 1

But to me, this seems like we're reliving the Movie "The Abyss". The Sub, sinks while encountering an alien space craft. Now, I'm going to take this a little further and throw in a little of the movie "Aliens". Now, after colliding, the Crew survived on the ocean floor, BUT a dealy alien virus (or plague) started infacting the ship and taking it over, and the remaining un-tainted crew flooded the ship to save the rest of humanity. So, if this IS the case, I'm in no hurry to bring that bitch to the surface.
