  1. Romans on Massive WWDC Rumor Roundup · · Score: 0, Offtopic

You know, that quote from Romans is pretty awesome. I was reading over Romans 8 a couple of nights ago and that passage struck me as being very reassuring. I wrote it down, it's a good one that I'm going to commit to memory!

  2. Ti is cool, but not why you think it is. on The Sexiest Metal · · Score: 1

Most people don't realize that Ti is everywhere. Have a white plastic bottle lying around? Chances are the coloring agent in the bottle is TiO2, titanium dioxide. It's also used in paints (e.g. titanium white). Another cool snippet is the applications in the synthetic industry. Using Ti as a catalyst or reagent in reactions is one of the only industrially useful metals (synthetically speaking, on an organic chemistry level). I often use a reagent called TiCl4 (titanium tetrachloride, or "tickle-4"). The cool thing is, once I pull my syringe out of the airtight bottle, it smokes like some type of badass really really hot knife. Anyway, Ti is cool.

  4. This field is crazy on Cheap Spray-on Plastic Solar Cells Coming · · Score: 4, Interesting

The cool thing that most people don't know is that this type of technology is going to be everywhere. For example, I'm sure most people have heard of OLEDs (orgainc light emitting diodes, Alan Heeger won the 2000 Nobel prize for this stuff among other things), the newest research is being done on small organic polymers that absorb photons at almost 100% quantum efficiency. What this means is, one day you'll paint your house and the whole thing will be a solar panel, you won't need specialized tiles. This will also be extended to cars, boats, etc. the implications are truly amazing.
