I would like to say that un-like the other two post I think that was freaking awsome and can't wait to get my commercial fixed wing liscence and do the same thing.
Anyone that post about the avaonics messing with equipment or "flying in formation" as being dangerous has not idea what they are talking about, and have probably never be in an Airplane besides a huge jet.
Flying in formation dosen't mean you have to fly 3-4 feet like the fucking blue angles. You can fly 100's of feet from each other as long as you are maintaining the same heading, speed, and distance away from the other airplane.
People also forget that Wireless equipment is line of sight, so by being in a airplane you can see more AP's then by driving alone, not to mention that is saves more time.
I think it all boils down to jelousy and ignorance. These people can't own or see owning a plane, so they think that any one that does is a moron, and that flying in a plane to find Wireless AP's is a waste of time..
If those out there have the money and the resources to fly a fucking plane for wireless access points let them do it. This is a free country (moslty) and economics will punish them if they can't afford to do these things. (I.E. they will go bankrupt because the money that went for place fuel was suppose to go to power.)

I have a 40GB headless server in a closet, connected to the xbox via switched 100Mbit ethernet. The 40GB server is running freebsd and has nfs shares. My apartment complex has a 10 mbit network, my computer, my roomates computer, my friends upstaris computer can be mounted using samba.
The xbox mounts the drives and plays everything over the network path is just(/usr/media/.) Streaming a mp3 over samba takes about 20k/s. Moves more, but quality is still good.
If I want a DVD quality movie, well I have a DVD+-RW so I just burn the movie and take it out on the xbox.
You can put a 120GB HD if you put in a mod chip. I just wanted to software mod mine for a while.

I always use to think it was novelty too. But for 150 you have a networked mp3, move, and dvd player. The dvd can play any region. I use a wireless keyboard and mouse to browse the internet on my Television while playing mp3s.
I live @ college in an apartment with ethernet. I can mount any computer in the apartment complex via samba (or nfs) and stream mp3's from the computer to my stereo. (I'm getting optical out soon it'll be even better)
You can also watch dvd's, the quality is awsome using s-video (I can't even imagine component).
You can use a pc to do all this, but a pc would look really big and ugly next to a plasma tv. You could mount the xbox vertically. Not to mention the xbox is soo fucking quiet. I have a ps2 that I bought first, and it's loud. The xbox you can barely hear when it is on.
Plus for 20 dollars get a copy of Halo used and you can use a spare computer and program called xbox connect to play people on the internet. (The program is free cause it tricks the xbox into thinking the computers are local.)
The xbox we have now is my roomates, but I'm buying one this week (since the price dropped) cause I'm going to want one this summer (I graduate and move) and I'm afraid by then Microsoft will make it to hard to put on Linux.
You already can't use the new mech warrior game, or Xbox newer then like September 2003.

I live @ college in an apartment with ethernet. I can mount any computer in the apartment complex via samba (or nfs) and stream mp3's from the computer to my stereo. (I'm getting optical out soon it'll be even better)
You can also watch dvd's, the quality is awsome using s-video (I can't even imagine component).
You can use a pc to do all this, but a pc would look really big and ugly next to a plasma tv. You could mount the xbox vertically. Not to mention the xbox is soo fucking quiet. I have a ps2 that I bought first, and it's loud. The xbox you can barely hear when it is on.
Plus for 20 dollars get a copy of Halo used and you can use a spare computer and program called xbox connect to play people on the internet. (The program is free cause it tricks the xbox into thinking the computers are local.)
The xbox we have now is my roomates, but I'm buying one this week (since the price dropped) cause I'm going to want one this summer (I graduate and move) and I'm afraid by then Microsoft will make it to hard to put on Linux.
You already can't use the new mech warrior game, or Xbox newer then like September 2003.

Today, the world is a global economy, fuck man when the Japanese Yen had a severe deprecation in 2000, the entire world was affected. The economy of the world is a system now, and one sector influences everything else. So if you think the American economy has been ruined you got another thing coming.
Besides where the fuck do you live? Europe? Germany and France Still have a higher unemployment rate then we do in America, there GDP and GNP isn't growing more then 1% which can't even cover inflation.
You can have our blue collar and slave labor jobs,
the only people here that are bitching are those who are don't have a good education, or those techies that have no communication skills so it dosen't matter if the person that replaces them can't speak english.
