My point is that it was a design choice to allow a freedom to install apps. It isn't a situation where you can compare security models and just say iOS is better. You can make arguments about which method is preferred, but not which is better.
Some people might feel that way, I do not. I wouldn't take all blame away from MS for some of the things about their OS. But, the blame for installing crap software lies on the user.. regardless of the OS.
It's not security model difference between iOS and Android, it's a design philosophy difference. Android isn't designed to keep you in the walled garden. As such, iOS will always be more secure. Giving users a choice invariably leads to some of them making the wrong choice. That isn't a fault of Android, it's a fault in the rest of society.
If you walk into best buy and say "I'm gonna rip these people off with this bogus return" in Farsi, and the guy behind the counter hears that, you'll bet he will deny the return! That's basically what happened here...
That's nothing like what happened here, even if she did indeed say what you claim she said (but I can't find anything to back that) then that has no repercussions for Apple, unlike your attempt at an analogy would have on Best Buy.
For the purposes of this argument, Apple could in fact get in trouble if they allowed the sale knowing it would violate law. I'm not certain if they would, but the precident is there in other cases. Cases such as the sale of liquor or tobacco to someone after knowing they intend to provide it to a minor.
Depending on the circumstances, I might have trouble telling them apart. However, under any realistic viewing I can tell them apart. Add to that the fact that I have a tablet that doesn't look anything like the iPad. What do people always think it is? an iPad.
So, I would take that whole thing with a grain of salt.
People like to claim ATI/AMD drivers are complete crap. I'll try to remember the progression correctly, but it's close enough to make a point. I've had ATI>ATI>NVIDIA>NVIDIA>ATI/NVIDIA>ATI>AMD, over the past 15 years.
Windows: I had one motherboard incompatibility with my first ATI card, aside from that no problems from any card at all. Nvidia and ATI both worked quite well over the years. I don't think that makes either of them perfect, but people like to blow things out of proportion and/or blame them for their own stupidity.
As for support in Linux, I'm not as familiar. I've usually ended up rage quitting with both Nvidia and ATI because I'm a gamer and couldn't play whatever title it was at the time. I know I had issues over the years when playing with Linux, with both manufacturers.
Technically, not 1/2 the production cost. Economy of scale does kick in. But, I was making the same point. You're making more money off of fewer units sold. Obviously the real world numbers would vary, but the point is still made.
Sure, economy of scale will bring production price down. However, they're selling 1/2 as many units for 3x the money. The units could cost 2x as much to make and they're still making more profit from the higher price tag.
Ok, so if I just pull some random numbers out of my ass... We have 100 people. 50 have insurance and 50 don't. If they sell the hearing aid for $3000, they sell 50 of them. If they sell it for $500 they sell 100. Which makes them more money?
They definitely didn't create the first smartphone that didn't suck. They just created the first smartphone with consumer popularity. There is a difference.
The difference is, there is reason to believe he didn't donate (or donate much) based on the way he publicly lead his life. There is little reason to assume he was a child molester.
I've purchased multiple wired gaming mice from Best Buy. The selection was only about as limited as you would expect from a B&M store. A few razer mice, a RAT 7, and then the "normal" mice. The reality is, they stock what sells.

Or, they do care and they wish to support the work.
My fault for being ambiguous. I meant the odds of getting laid were too high.
I have a better chance of getting laid in the next 5 years.
You say that almost as if it might be true!
"Does this make me look fat?"
None of that changes how patents are used, however. Other companies are less likely to take you to court if you have a decent portfolio.
Most big companies have lawyers on staff already.. no extra cost out of pocket.
Say what? Are you saying we need patents to protect companies from other companies who sue them for patent infringement?
As a society, we use the same strategy with nukes... I don't see a reason to be surprised by the logic of using patents the same way.

But having to do that would also waste our time. Are you willing to do that?
Well we're posting on slashdot aren't we?
I brought you up to spec there.

I'm slightly dismayed to not find crude references to already doing so through superior virility.

Not sure about that specific setup, but there are cheaper bulkier hearing aid alternatives.

I hate Windows Live Mail, but I'd sure use it over Apple Mail. At the very least, WLM gives more relevant error messages when there is a problem.

JEDEC and DDR are pretty common.. I don't see your point.

I honestly can't tell if you're naive or trolling. I can't think of a single thing they've done that WASN'T a dick move...
I think you're agreeing with them...
