I think you're mixing it up with something else. This is what I have been referring to: a story on fox news but also discussed on CNN, New York Times etc.
I pretty much gave up on the ACLU when they decided that mandatory study of Islam, in the North Carolina government sponsored college, was perfectly OK. Fuck 'em.
I run Komodo, so I know you can build on the Mozilla base, but other than the miriad of browser variations built on it, just what the heck can you do? If I were to replace some Perl/Tk stuff I wrote (simple filing tools, that kind of stuff, on Windows) would I be able to build it all on Mozilla? Anyone care to describe some applications that developing under Mozilla would be relevant for?
I've noticed snappier performance from FreeBSD compared to RH Linux, on the same hardware, but FYI - FreeBSD code cannot be "stolen". I suggest you re-read the license.
I have his books, and they are great, but dated. What worked excellently for NT4 no longer holds together for W2K. I have no end of problems with Win32:: on W2K, when you dig into some of them, the comments at the top immediately declare themselves to be obsolete. After a period of great stability and usability, Perl on windows is currently a giant mess.
Anyone remember how MS was so proud of W2K's security model that they put up that test server, and said - hey "hack it if you can!". Later on it turned out that they had some major upstream filtering to keep it safe, and yet it still went down. My mailbox has an equal amount of security bulletins from Microsoft and spam these days. And so much for the vaunted "Read my lips - no more reboots" bullshit. Many of the security updates (880 at last rough count) require a reboot.
Looking at the specs, I think "dire" would have been more appropriate. I've only had my VIIx for a couple of years, if that, and I'm already frustrated by it's limitations, and specifically by the fact I can actually see the pixels on the screen. I would have gladly taken twice the res, for half the battery time. Providing it had a rechargeable battery. Which it doesn't. Sigh.
I have yet to meet an MCSE who has even moderate product knowledge of Windows and related technologies. Companies are afraid to do much of anything other than hemorage into the MS license fund now - and that's simply in the desperate hope that maybe one day their systems will keep going for long enough to get something done. Corporate IT customers have been shovel fed garbage for so many years now, that few would even be prepared to believe that IT can a) pay for itself, b) be productive.
Modern fluourescents work with the lamp modules. Older ones require an appliance module. I have a bunch of corkscrew fluourescents, and they work just fine.
without a way of stopping Microsoft from throwing old and incompatible pseudo-JVM's into their browser, simply to fuck with the developer community. First they take it out, then they throw the wrong version back in. Bah.
Gates really does now think he's a prophet, like Moses. Anyone notice that the next version of 'doze after longhorn will be called "Promised Land". Thanks Bill, for rescuing me. Not. (Or should that be.NOT ?)
though still high, the rents & housing costs in LA are about 1/3 to 1/2 that of Silicon Valley. I believe the bulk of the digital effects companies are in or near Pasadena, and you can rent somewhat affordably in that whole corridor, or if you don't mind the commute, further north.
And when, oh enlightened one, did it change? What exactly is this mystical support for the unemployed? That they are garaunteed to *be* unemployed? Ha ha! Say, how long is the waiting period for a hip operation these days? Or does the NHS just let you die first?
I see this repeatedly, this difficulty in understanding this point. Here it is, in a nutshell for you: In the UK, you buy something. If there's something wrong with it, you can return it. The seller is not obliged to give you a refund, if he/she can provide a replacement. There endeth your rights. In the US, if you buy something and decide, even a year later, and without the receipt, you can return it and get a refund. This doesn't apply to all stores, just those that want your business. Which is most big stores. What a concept! Ha ha! Now, get back to earning your wage, which must be at least the miniumum now that the UK got sued by the EU over that one.... heh heh heh.
The Saudi Arabian government controls and blocks it's own citizens access to the internet (they're the same people who committed 9/11 right?), yet this is still somehow the fault of the US? What incredible logic.
Huh? You need to do a little more reading, I think. Employment rights better? Can a woman be fired for getting pregnant in the UK? Sure. Are you garaunteed medical treatment in the US? You betcha! You can crack a joke with the cops? Whoah! What an amazing "right". You can have an open beer in your car? What another amazing right! Can you be arrested if in a crowd of more than three, just 'cos someone feels "threatened" by you? Of course - that got plowed through years ago. Can the police throw you in jail if you don't give up your crypto key? Even if you don't have it? You bet! Can you buy your beloved beer between 11:30PM and Noon the next day? Generally no. Can you shop for groceries on a sunday? Only if you're lucky. Can you return a VCR to the store for a full refund, just 'cos you think you picked the wrong one. Hey - I'd be glad to hear a factual rebuttal other than turd-headed tripe such as "I can cross the road".

You need one of these my friend. Don't forget our chums at home power magazine for other energy related goodies and reviews.

how about the orb from Woody Allens "Sleeper" ?

Dude, that's just how MySQL spits out records ...

Uh, did you try the Win32 modules, and specifically Win32::AdminMisc from roth.net ?
Not if you wipe your ass on it when you're done!
Turns out there was a 1 gram misbalance caused by SOME GUYS ASHES in an old film cannister, glued to the wing...
You conveniently ignore the mandatory patching that is required on a W2K box.

... presumably it's running in "safe mode" ? (sorry, someone had to say it, or at least, repeat it ...).
