The problem is, everyone can find someone defining him/her as a mental case. Should we all go in a padded room?
Profiling people to institutionalize them has really broad implications. The entire legal system is based on the fact that people are responsible for their actions. Be careful before throwing that away, there is a lot more that'll change than just a few mental cases in a few padded rooms.
Munich: The first 6 digits of PI are 3.14159 MS: No, it's 123456. Honest, we've done a study and all. Munich: Oh, great, can you show us? MS: No, it's for internal purposes only. But trust us, it's 123456 allright.
In C/C++ you would have used an implementation of OpenGL which is only vaguely compatible with the Linux one. Of course, everything is supposed to work the same way, but really, it doesn''t. Yes, it is the fault of the shitty drivers on linux, but still, it's at best going to be a hit and miss operation.
Java3D might not be the cutting edge when it comes to 3D acceleration, but it really works all the same on all platforms where Java runs.
There's nothing inherently special about Java that makes it able to run games on Windows/Linux any more than C/C++.
Holy fucking Jesus Christ, you haven't learned much in all that time have you? There is a hell of a lot more in Java. I once saw a (server-side) project of about 100k classes go from Java 1.3 32bit on Windows to Java 1.4 64bit on Solaris without even needing a recompilation. The stuff just worked.
This is miles and miles away from what it would have meant in C or C++, and you know it. Of course, C and/or C++ done properly can achieve something that is portable, but at least your most common data type doesn't change whenever you change the number of fucking bits in your CPU. Not mentioning the stability of the APIs whenever you want to do anything vaguely more complex than fopen.
That and the fact that his "simple" test took longer to run than his supposedly more complex test in Java. Something wrong with the first test ? With the second?
Well, something very wrong with the overall test. When your results contradict themselves, you should not publish them.
I've heard the infection spreads more easily if you stick it in the port on the backside. I know for most people, its a PITA to do that. you might have to get down on your knees an so on, though there are those who prefer it and for them it's especially important to use adequate protection.
Yes, it's always more painful from behind, I agree.
Let me see... Yes.... RS won't ship to Canada, and when you select Canada in the list of countries it tells you: "For orders to United States or Canada please place your order with Allied Electronics".
Well. There's that.
Let's go now to Allied Electronics: http://www.alliedelec.com/lp/120626raso/ Note that you don't need to know the address, there is a nice link in the message displayed by the RS checkout page.
Guess what? They have it in stock and they ship to Canada. Isn't that wonderful? I liked my test drive, thank you very much. Frankly, it didn't take long.
Newsflash for you: Nokia doesn't sell (many) smartphones in places where such networks are available. The cost of the bandwidth is expensive in some countries, regardless of the century your handset was built in.
There was a french dude in the 19th century that said something like this:
"Who are we going to take money from? The Poor? They have no money... The Rich? Nah - they're much too smart to let us take their money. Only thing left is the middle class. They are less rich so they can't avoid it, but there's a lot of them, so there's real money there"
You get nothing from the government? Where are you? Living in international waters?
All kidding aside, you get a heck of a lot more from the government that you think. A lot. There was a very good article in the Time Magazine a while back but I can't find it anymore. In short: Food, roads, TV, Telephone, Internet, infrastructures, electricity, cars, about everything is subsidized. Everything.
How is changing firmware different?
Because it's digital, and common sense has been thrown out for digital goods.
Are you implying that a book isn't digital information? Because I got news for you: Digital data didn't start at the computer age...
Dude, you are too young for a rocker! Get yourself a 486dx66 and a gaming chair and beat the crap out of your 20 year old!
There was no such thing as a 486dx66. However, there was something called a 486 DX2 66.

False. Religion asks questions that are outside the realm of what science can ask/answer. Is not that hard to understand actually...
Philosophy asks questions, religion gives misleading, inaccurate and imaginary answers. Their questions are just rhetorical, they are empty.
The most loathing thing is that for C# the "complex" test takes longer than the "simple" test. This is fine.
However, on the Java side, the "complex" test goes much faster than the "simple" test.
Hmmmm. Crap. Which is fine. The real question is: why did they decide to publish such Rubbish(C)?
That and the fact that his "simple" test took longer to run than his supposedly more complex test in Java. Something wrong with the first test ? With the second?

On the other hand, ... fingers?
Personally I have fingers on both my hands.

That shows how good they were at cooking the books, if malpractise can't be proven.
They should open a school for Creative Accounting.
What for? The guy is already a millionaire several dozen times over?
What is the problem with the iPhone browser? Do you mean to say it's worse than the default Android browser?
Oh my...
I've been 5 times to these websites during this story. Every one of these 5 times there was some available.
There *may* be a problem, but I clearly don't see it.
There are 4 available at Farnell at this very moment.

You're not looking very hard. RPis have been in stock for month in the two official retailers.
Of course, if you wait for it to be available on Amazon, well, too bad.
Newsflash for you: Nokia doesn't sell (many) smartphones in places where such networks are available. The cost of the bandwidth is expensive in some countries, regardless of the century your handset was built in.
They advertise the feature without advertising the implications.
Of course, that's called "marketing". Push up the upsides, burry the downsides.
Are you sure your power supply is powerful enough?
No! Stop it! You're going to slashdot slashdot !
It's 2013 and you can't get a Raspberry Pi?
Have you also failed to see Gangnam Style?
He's still waiting for the nyan cat video to end.
Just Google translate it to and from any language other than English.
the problem is, the meaning might be gone as well by the time it's English-y again.

Still hold true.

There is a reason there is a debt crisis.
