  1. Let's say that I try to filter out the bitching. It kinda somewhat works.

  2. I was just expressing my opinion. Point by point. If that's bitching to you then I apologize. But man, the internet must be filled with bitching for you!

Deciding whether to arbitrarily limit the performance of my device is not a decision that someone else can sensibly make for me.

So you'd rather have your phone shut down when launching a power hungry app (when your battery is 3 years old, weared out and at 40%) rather than having said app launch a little slower?

Your specific use case does not apply to me and as such all you achieve is gimping my phone for no reason. Kindly keep your silly ideas away from my phone.

    Agreed.

  4. Sorry Mr Internet Police, I didn't realise you were banning people from stating negative opinions about a film

I was under the impression that answering a Slashdot comment was pretty far from banning anyone from doing anything. I may be wrong.

  5. Wow. Wake up man, it's just amusement, nothing serious.

First, all SW movies are abysmal in some way. The Force Awakens, where Fin, a non-jedi that barely ever touched a light saber can fight head to head with Kylo Ren for minutes without being touched? Please, that was abysmal. All of them movies have those moments.

Second, there is no book burning. The books are not in the tree anymore when Yoda burns it. Maybe you weren't paying attention.

Third, this movie is on par with the others. SW movies are like any movie. You need to be in the right mood to enjoy them. I went with my kids and the entire family loved it. That's how those movies are supposed to be consumed. They are entertainment. Don't take them as seriously as you do, and everything will be fine.

Changing a battery on an iPhone can be done for a price at the next Apple Store. And while you are tech savvy, you wouldn't believe the number of people that don't care.

  8. I have not purchased a phone since they became throw away's (sealed in battery)

I am not aware of a single phone with a sealed in battery, and if they exist they are most likely a very tiny portion of all phones. Changing the battery on an iPhone is as simple as buying one online, opening the phone and swaping it. True, you need a specific screwdriver to open the phone, but they bundle it with the battery, so this point is moot.

And don't complain about this voiding the warranty, there is no warranty anymore when you need a battery swap.
