Both Half Life 2 and UT2k4 (the most recent two games I purchased) shipped either on a million CD's, or one DVD if you spring for the More Uber version and pay for all the pack-in "collector's edition" BS.
If you could find one. Which you couldn't.
So I bought HL2 on Steam. Didn't want to swap discs.
I find that attitude revolting, even though it is well established.
I don't see why I should pay if my porch light zorches somebody, unless I put in substandard wiring.
If I'm not negligent, I should not pay.
Note that, as a rule, I am profoundly opposed to the obsession with insurance we have. I think it's a very clever industry that has inveigled itself between our actions and their consequences.
What are the costs relative to making the fuel from new materials plus disposing of the old ones?
Don't you need steel and anti-contamination clothing and tools to run a "regular" fission reactor? Do you have a study that demonstrates that these factors would add up to a greater waste problem than the existing one?
I iTunes rearrange my music collection. It didn't rename any files, just rearranged my directory tree. At first, it was pretty awful (nothing was where I had put it!) but then I started using smart playlists and never thought about my directory tree again.
Why do you care about the directory tree if your music collection is in a query-able database? This is a monster huge big big big killer feature.
I've never "authorized" my iPod on any computer. You're cracked.
iTMS uses the least restrictive DRM scheme in the industry. Don't know what you're worried about.
As far as Mac and Windows only goes, well, OK. I guess it doesn't make any sense at all why they wouldn't support the.05% of users who don't have access to a Mac or a Windows box. Whatever.
He's not asking anybody else to buy his product. He mentioned a project he was working on, and people have been jumping up his ass because he hasn't gotten it ready for publication yet.
All I'm saying is, cut the guy some slack. He isn't doing anything wrong.
If you think it's that simple, you don't get it.
I don't have any money, so I can't "urge" them to do anything.
No, you'd get a bunch of people who are bad at math running the country.
Whoops, too late.
Er, maybe because there is no work that I can do to fix the problems, and no meaningful support that I can give the bills?
You seem to be assuming that Government still operates at The Peoples' behest. I don't agree.
It depends on what the definition of "IsNot" is.
Be a large corporation. That seems to help.
Yeah, I bet none of the engineers thought of any of your problems. Those dumb engineers.
Oh wait...
That's useful information. I'm going to look into this some more.
Thanks!

I think it's a pretty straightforward engineering challenge. I'd start with an interrupted screw design.
It spies on the activities of my computer and reports them back to its mama.
How is it NOT spyware?
Bungie was founded by people who loathed Microsoft. What makes you think that they'd go back?
Oh yeah. The fact that it happened.
I find that attitude revolting, even though it is well established.

Yeah, my Mac connects to my brain every night and keeps me ignorant.
You do not know what you're talking about. Tell the user "Hold down the apple key and strike the letter Q."
It's not too complicated.
It's pretty fundamental in MacOS (and has been for a long time) whereas it's pretty much a hodge-podge under Windows (as you have observed).
I can't think of a single Mac app that has a parent window. Certainly not one that isn't an ugly port from another platform....
This is a splat.

Calling something else the splat key is confusing and bad. You're making the baby Jesus cry.
Er, we haven't addressed pollution.
Uh, maybe we could, oh I dunno. Not do that part? Maybe make a big, like, thing...that people can walk through...but you can close...
A door! That's the word I'm looking for. Maybe put a big door on the front. With a lock. So you can't just, you know, open it.

My iPod is full of mp3's. I push a button in iTunes and it burns an mp3 CD.
I really, really don't understand the problem.

I've got all KINDS of portable hardware (and some non-portable hardware) with broken battery doors, so I don't agree with you.
I can replace the iPod battery if it wears out. I don't understand the problem.

I'm not talking about the freeways...I think that will be less difficult.
I'm talking about downtown traffic. Just because you're not going 200km/h, doesn't mean things don't happen REAL fast and REALLY unpredictably.
